A couple’s deeply personal journey to parenthood has ignited a heated discussion online after they shared photos of a transgender man giving birth. While many applauded the couple’s openness, others reacted with confusion or criticism.
The photos, which quickly gained traction on social media, show a transgender man, Syven, during labor and after welcoming the couple’s baby.
His wife, Tori, proudly shared the images, celebrating their family’s unique story. However, not everyone responded with the same level of acceptance.
For the couple, sharing their experience was about visibility and breaking societal norms. Syven, who transitioned years before, carried both of the couple’s children after stopping hormone therapy, per The Daily Mail. Tori documented the journey, emphasizing that pregnancy does not define gender.
The images were meant to highlight the strength of their bond and the reality that not all pregnancies look the same.
Many people praised the couple for their courage, recognizing the challenges transgender parents face. Supporters called the photos a beautiful representation of love, parenthood, and acceptance.
Despite the couple’s positive intentions, the response wasn’t entirely supportive. Some social media users expressed discomfort, arguing that the images challenged their traditional views of pregnancy and gender. Others made insensitive comments, refusing to acknowledge the father’s gender identity.
Although there were some positive comments about Syven’s pregnanct, Tori said that some people “smirked and giggled” when they saw him walking around with a pregnant belly.
‘The negatives were basically, “Why are you having a kid if you’re supposed to be a man,” “Men don’t have babies,” and stuff like that,’ Syven told The Daily Mail.
While Syven said being pregnant felt “perfect”, per Brightside, he did admit he felt judged for being a pregnant man, especially when going to his doctor.

“You’re a pregnant man sitting around a whole bunch of females, looking at you like ‘no, it can’t be,’ or ‘why?’ Or ‘is it possible you’re faking?'” he revealed, adding: “So it gets bad and very uncomfortable because you don’t want to hide your pregnancy.”
While negative reactions were inevitable, many stood up for the couple, urging respect and understanding. Advocates for LGBTQ+ rights reminded critics that gender identity and biological functions are separate, and that trans men giving birth is not a new phenomenon.
This story sheds light on the evolving understanding of gender and family dynamics. While some struggle to accept non-traditional narratives, others see these stories as important steps toward inclusivity.
The couple remains focused on their growing family, choosing to celebrate their happiness despite the backlash. Their story continues to spark important conversations about gender, parenthood, and the need for respect in personal journeys.
