Getting a bad tattoo is an unfortunate but common experience, and one TikTok user is convinced she now holds the title for worst tattoo ever.
Marie Armstrong, who has several tattoos already, took to TikTok in February to share her devastation over a tiny half-peeled banana inked onto her finger. According to her, the design is so bad that she has to fight back tears whenever she looks at it.
In her viral video, Marie explained that she originally got a banana tattoo on her finger about a year ago. However, it quickly faded — something she expected since finger tattoos often require multiple touch-ups.
“But this one faded completely, immediately after I got it,” she said. “You couldn’t even tell what it was. I didn’t even count it as a tattoo.”
So when her boyfriend booked an appointment with a talented tattoo artist, Marie decided to tag along and get her banana tattoo re-done, Unilad reports.
Things took a turn when she arrived at the shop. She quickly realized that no one there spoke English, and most of the conversation was in Spanish, which she couldn’t understand.
“I did not know what was going on,” she admitted.
Despite the language barrier, she assumed a simple tattoo wouldn’t be an issue. She showed the artist a picture of what she wanted, and he began freehanding the design.
At first, Marie wasn’t too worried – until she saw the finished result.
“I am trying not to cry,” she recalled. “I know these are small, silly little goofy tattoos, and maybe to you, it doesn’t matter how they look, but I actually care.”
She explained that she loved her original banana tattoo, making the disappointment even worse.
“I mean, hopefully, it’ll fade as much as the first one,” she added, revealing that she wasn’t taking care of it in the hopes that it would wear away.
When she finally showed the camera her new ink, it was clear why she was upset. The updated banana tattoo had minimal detail, and according to Marie, was barely recognizable.
“This is a joke,” she ranted. “You can’t even tell it’s a banana. It is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”
To make matters worse, her boyfriend’s tattoos turned out perfectly – but they were done by the shop owner. Marie later emailed the owner with photos of her tattoo, and he offered to fix it once it healed. However, she’s unsure if she wants to go through the process again.
“I have the world’s ugliest banana tattoo on my finger,” she concluded. “Slay.”
TikTok users were quick to react. “It kind of looks like the thumbs from Spy Kids,” one person joked.
Others thought she was overreacting. “Honestly, it’s not that bad. I barely see a difference. The first one wasn’t cute anyway,” one commenter wrote.
While Marie’s frustration is understandable, it seems like opinions are split – some think it’s a disaster, while others believe it’s just a quirky little ink mishap. Either way, her video has certainly gotten people talking!
