Kate Middleton has a big passion for tennis, and during the prestigious Wimbledon tournament, she is often seen in the Royal Box. However, one time, her sister was denied entry. Pippa MIddleton reportedly was given the cold shoulder by guards, and that was because of one traditional reason.
Kate Middleton is well known for her passion for tennis, both as a spectator and a player. Kate is playing herself plenty, not least with William at their private tennis court at their country house, Anmer Hall.
Her passion for the game also extends to her official work, as the princess serves as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Moreover, when the prestigious Wimbledon tournament is being played, you can be sure that Kate Middleton and other family members are watching matches from the prestigious Royal Box at Center Court.
The Middleton family, including Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, and sister Pippa Middleton, has also attended Wimbledon several times over the years. Usually, they have joined the Royal Box alongside other high-profile guests and members of the Royal Family.
Traditionally, the Royal Box at Center Court is reserved for members of the Royal Family and invited guests of the All England Club. However, one time, Kate’s sister and mother were reportedly not allowed to enter.
Why Pippa Middleton was refused entry in Royal Box at Wimbledon
As reported by the Express, in 2017, Carole and Pippa Middleton were reportedly denied entry to the Royal Box after arriving late for a match. The strict etiquette does not allow late admission, regardless of status, and the mother-daughter duo had to find other seating.
Despite the minor setback, reports and images from the day suggested they still enjoyed the tennis. In more recent years, the Royal Box has seen many celebrities and high-profile public figures. Attendees include actors Kate Winslet, Tom Cruise, and Andrew Garfield.
The incident involving the Middletons underscores the famously strict etiquette at Wimbledon’s most exclusive seating area, where even well-known guests are not exempt from the rules.
And as for Pippa, it’s safe to say she will not be late for a tennis match at Wimbledon again.
