Prince Harry ‘regret’ writing about Prince William in Spare

Prince Harry’s relationship with his brother, Prince William, is non-existent. The brothers, who once were each other’s safest point, have not spoken in years, and a reconciliation seems very far away. Two crucial persons who could be the key to the brothers and their families meeting again have been said to be the Sussexes’ children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, but now, another Royal Family member has been named as a key figure.

Prince Harry lashed out against many of his family members in his 2023 book Spare, which didn’t exactly improve the situation between him and his UK family. Rumors have it that the estranged prince has been looking for a way back into the royal fold but that his wife, Meghan Markle, is trying to prevent him from ever returning.

Prince William is said not to want a reunion at all, and one royal expert states that he and his brother might only meet one more time—at their father’s funeral. Although Harry obviously is very angry with his brother and how he has treated him and his wife, it appears as if he might regret what he wrote about his Royal Family members in his book.

Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir Spare, released in 2023, shook the Royal Family. The estranged prince had left royal life three years earlier with his wife, Meghan Markle. While the Oprah Winfrey interview they made about a year after leaving the UK was a lot to take in for the royal, Harry’s book was something else.

There, the Duke made allegations against his family members and said evil things about his father, King Charles, his mother-in-law, Queen Camilla, his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, and his brother, Prince William.

For example, Harry gave a detailed insight into one of the biggest fights of his life. It happened in 2019 at his London home, where Harry wrote that he and William had a physical confrontation. The Duke claimed William had called his wife, Meghan, “abrasive,” “rude,” and “difficult,” something Harry called “parroting the press narrative.”

It escalated, and Harry described how William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor.”

Prince Harry recalled physical altercation with Prince William

“He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out,” Harry wrote.

The Duke then described how William urged him to hit back, describing their fights as children. When Harry refused, the future king left before returning later “looking regretful, and apologized.” Harry said he sustained visible injuries on his back.

The Royal Family has not commented on the shocking claim made, and the truth is that they most likely never will. Prince Harry has only met his brother once since they both attended a funeral last summer. It might take years, but when King Charles dies, it’s time for Prince William to take the throne, which will happen through his own coronation. But sadly, it appears he has no plans to invite his brother to be there for his big day.

While the Prince of Wales wants his coronation to “look and feel different,” a friend of William and Harry told The Times that William could exclude his brother from the coronation and not invite him. Moreover, the friend claimed that the brothers last spoke almost two years ago. “They are estranged, which is dreadfully sad,” the source said.

Prince William could exclude Harry from his coronation

Prince William can, of course, shut Harry out of his grand day. Still, royal expert and author Christopher Andersen told Fox that he was “convinced” that the Duke would be there.

“Despite all the bad blood between the brothers, I’m convinced that, when the time does come, William will not be foolish enough to exclude his only sibling, now fifth in line to the throne, from his coronation,” Andersen said.

“Things probably have never been worse between the brothers than they are now. William and Charles have pretty much made the joint decision to effectively cut Harry out of their lives, at least for the time being. There is no sign of a reconciliation on the horizon, and everyone involved seems to have pretty much come to terms with that.”

“That being said, we have to remember that William is carrying a very heavy psychological burden at the moment,” Andersen continued. “He is deeply upset that his wife and his father are battling cancer at the same time. He must keep a brave face not only for his three young children but also for the sake of the monarchy.”

In recent times, Prince Harry has been rumored to be looking for a way back. He’s been said to miss his old friends in the UK and allegedly looked at permanent housing there. He and Meghan had a home in Frogmore Cottage, which they were evicted from by King Charles just days after Spare hit the shelves.

Princess Eugenie branded “peace keaper” between Harry & William

At the same time, Meghan Markle has been told to try to stop her husband from ever returning to the UK. Although the Sussexes might not make amends with Charles, William, Kate, and the rest of the royals, their children could be the key to a reconciliation. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have barely met their UK family, and King Charles is said to be heartbroken about not being able to see them.

Further. Archie and Lilibet’s cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis–William and Kate’s children–have no relation to them. Experts have claimed that Harry and Meghan are hurting their children’s future as they won’t know their UK relatives if this continues.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet could be two key figures in a reunion between the Sussexes and the Royal Family, but according to former royal butler Grant Harold, who worked for King Charles for seven years, launches another theory – and person.

As per Yahoo, Harrold explains that Princess Eugenie could become the key person to help Harry and William reconcile. The butler says that she’s always been and “always will be” very close to both Harry and William and that she would “intervene” to help. Moreover, Grant Harrold said that the princess, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, “cares about them both deeply.”

“Eugenie is very close to William and Harry, she always has been, always will be. I’m sure that if she could, she would probably try to play peacekeeper with William and Harry, but it’s hard to say as we don’t know exactly what is going on behind closed doors,” Grant Harrold said.

Prince Harry ‘regrets’ writing about William in ‘Spare’

“I’m sure if she can help, she probably would try and intervene between the two of them, if she can help bring the brothers back together, of course she would. She’s their cousin and she cares about them both deeply.”

When Kate Middleton got her cancer diagnosis, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were said to have reached out to her and given her support. At the same time, reports suggested that Harry regretted writing nasty things about his sister-in-law. A source speaking to the Mirror suggests that Harry might feel the same way about his brother.

“Although Harry is glad he finally got his say on everything that went on with Spare, there is part of him that has some regrets over it all and the way it was handled,” the source said.

“He was still very angry about how he was treated by his family and wanted them to know and felt his book was the only way they’d listen. But looking back, he’s not sure it was handled in the right way and he has faced a lot of criticism for it and hurt his family a lot.”

The source continued, “Harry still wants to have a relationship with them and is hoping that in 2025, he can make that happen. A lot has gone on since Spare was released and he didn’t update the paperback version – so he is hopeful he can repair the relationship.”

Prince William has ‘no room in his heart’ to deal with Prince Harry, expert claims

Even if Harry wants a reunion with his brother and the rest of the Royal Family, Prince William doesn’t seem interested. According to royal expert Jennie Bond, burying the hatchet with his brother isn’t remotely close to the top of his list of priorities. Surprisingly, when Prince Harry celebrated his birthday, a greeting was sent from William and Kate’s official social media accounts.

“I still think things are too sensitive for a meaningful reconciliation with William, but the fact that he and Catherine authorised the greeting to be posted is definitely an unexpected turn of events,” Bond told OK!, referring to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ happy birthday post to Harry, per the Mirror.

“I don’t think we should hold our breath for the step to really signal the start of a reconciliation, but it was an unexpected turn of events.”

She added: “William has so much on his plate at the moment that I don’t think he has room in his heart or head to deal with all that has gone on with Harry. While the brothers may never be close again, or even live on the same continent, it doesn’t mean that the future has to be full of bitterness and bad blood. Catherine is right. Family should always be paramount.”
