Share a cold one with your best friend: there’s a beer for dogs now

We all know that the only thing better than a nice cold beer is sharing one with a friend.

Sadly, you can’t share one with your true best friend: your dog. Like chocolate, beer is one of those treats strictly for humans.

But what if there was a special beer made specifically for dogs? Well in the latest miracle of science, one company has released just such a product.

In honor of National Dog Day on August 26, Busch released their newest product: Dog Brew. Not to be confused with BrewDog, this beer is indeed exactly what it sounds like: a beer for dogs.

To be clear, this isn’t real beer: it’s a special non-alcoholic concoction made with pork bone broth brew and other dog-approved ingredients.

Busch stresses that dogs should still not consume actual beer. Humans can drink Dog Brew if they want, though it’s not designed with their palate in mind, so you should probably leave it to the dog and drink the real deal.

It’s the perfect drink for pet owners who want to chill with their dogs, and it comes at a perfect time: with social distancing, it’s still hard to go out to the bars with your friends, so most people are drinking at home.

And for many people, the best company is a dog: adoptions and fosters have gone up during quarantine—something that Busch previously encouraged by giving three months of beer to anyone who took in a dog.

“After a long day there’s nothing quite like having a Busch with a friend, and with so many new pet owners across America this year, we wanted to create a brew to give our fans a chance to share a Busch brew with their ‘best friend,'” Daniel Blake, Vice President of Value Brands at Anheuser-Busch, said in a statement.

Not only is Dog Brew a good way to bond with your own dog, it’s a great way to help dogs in need.

For every $9.00 four-pack of Dog Brew sold, Busch will donated a dollar to the Best Friends Animal Society, up to $50,000.

“We’re proud to be able to partner with Best Friends Animal Society and continue our efforts to help those furry friends still looking for a home,” Blake said.

If you’re the kind of person wondering who would actually buy this for their dog… well, the first batch sold out immediately. There’s now a waitlist, so there’s still a chance you can get your dog some cold ones.
