Gypsy Rose conspired to kill mom in 2015, now expecting baby with man she met in prison

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is expecting her first child with Ken Urker, her ex-fiancé who she met as a pen pal while she was serving time in prison for her role in murder of her abusive mother.

The 32-year-old mother-to-be is still married to Ryan Anderson, her co-star in the docuseries Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up.

Splitting from her husband in March and reuniting with Urker the next month, the woman – released from prison December 28, 2023 – says she found her “freedom” in an unexpected way and wants to be for the baby “everything my mother wasn’t.” Keep reading to learn more!

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who at 24 admitted to the 2015 killing of her twisted mother Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, is taking her freedom to the next level.

The former inmate is a famed victim of Munchausen by proxy, which is a mental health condition where a caregiver looks for sympathy in an exaggerated or a made-up Illness or injury in a person under their care.

The star of Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup spent the first two decades of her life being mentally, physically and medically abused by Dee Dee, who convinced people that her child had leukemia and muscular dystrophy.

Her mother, who was killed at 48, kept her daughter prisoner, forcing her to use a wheelchair and feeding tube. She also tricked doctors by telling them her daughter’s medical records were lost in Hurricane Katrina.

“Obviously I knew that I could walk and didn’t need a feeding tube, but everything else was a really big confusion for me,” the Louisiana-born woman told People prior to her release. Referring to an alleged epilepsy diagnosis, she continues, “Whenever I’d question it my mother would say I’d had a seizure the night before and didn’t remember. There was always an excuse.”

And then she found a way out.

When Gypsy Rose was 23, she persuaded her then boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn to permanently rid her of Dee Dee.

While she hid in the bathroom, 31-year-old Godejohn repeatedly stabbed and killed Dee Dee.

NBC reports in 2016 when Gypsy Rose, charged with second-degree murder, took the stand at his trial, she said “I talked him into it.”

Godejohn is serving a life sentence in a Missouri prison for first-degree murder.

Finding love locked up

While Gypsy Rose was in prison, she was engaged to Ken Urker, whom she met through the pen pal program.

After ending her relationship with Urker, she married elementary school teacher Ryan Anderson in July 2022.

On December 28, 2023, Gypsy Rose was released from prison and one week later, she walked the red carpet with Anderson for the premiere of her docuseries The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose.

At the same time, her and Anderson were filming Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up, a series that details the couple’s lives after she was released from prison.

In March, before the June 2024 docuseries release, the couple split.

The next month, she was spotted getting cozy with Urker, who she was in an on and off again relationship from 2018 to 2022, the same year she married Anderson.

Explaining her situation with Urker, Gypsy Rose told TMZ in April 2024, “After reconnecting earlier this month, we realized that our love for each other is simply undeniable, and life is too short to not take a chance.” She continues, “We have a history that made for the perfect foundation for a new beginning. We are together and in a wonderful place in our relationship.”

‘Everything my mother wasn’t’

And now that “wonderful place” is about to welcome a new guest.

The woman, now a social media influencer, made a huge announcement on her YouTube channel.

“I know the rumors have been flying around for quite some time now…and I’m happy to announce that I am 11 weeks pregnant,” she says in the July 9 video, adding that the baby will be born in January 2025. “This was not planned at all, it was completely unexpected, but we’re both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood.”

Speaking to the critics, who doubt that she’s “not ready to be a mother,” she says, “I don’t know if anyone’s really ready to be a mother.”

Next, overcome by emotions, Gypsy Rose shares she will give her child everything she did not receive from her own mom.

“All the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby” she says. “Knowing that I am a mother now, and I’m happy, and I just want to be a good mother for my child. I want to be everything my mother wasn’t.”

‘I couldn’t be happier’

Though Urker didn’t make an appearance in the clip, Gypsy Rose insists the two are “gonna stick together.”

“We are a family now. And as unconventional as this relationship and this child may have came from, I couldn’t be happier and this is a blessing. I found my freedom in a way that I never expected and I’m OK with that.”

She adds, “Everything that has ever happened to me in my life suddenly doesn’t matter because it all led me to be who I am today, and it all led me to this moment right here, right now. And that’s a blessing to say that I made it.”
