Most of us have probably been here at some point: the ring on your finger is completely stuck and impossible to get off.

In some cases, the solution might be soap, Vaseline, or cooking oil. But when your finger is swollen, even these tried-and-true methods don't always work. You're seemingly left with no alternative but to cut the ring off your finger.

But it turns out, there's another way, which doctor Simon Carley demonstrates in the video below.

Best of all? The only thing you need is a thin string.
