Days after her brother, now known as King Charles III, issued a statement following the death of their mother Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Anne has released her own moving tribute.
In it, the Princess Royal revealed she was “fortunate” to share the last 24 hours with her mother.
“It has been an honour and a privilege to accompany her on her final journeys. Witnessing the love and respect shown by so many on these journeys has been both humbling and uplifting.”
On Tuesday, Princess Anne accompanied her mother’s coffin as she flew from Edinburgh to London where King Charles and the Queen Consort would receive her.
Queen Elizabeth’s grandchildren, Princes William and Harry along with their spouses, are expected to meet the coffin at Buckingham Palace.
As the United Kingdom continues its 10-day mourning period, those who wish to pay their respects have either lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the Queen’s coffin or laid flowers at memorials around London.
Not only have citizens of the UK been in mourning, but people from all over the world have expressed their condolences to the entire Royal Family.
Princess Anne thanked everyone for their outpouring of love during the extremely difficult time for her family.
“We will all share unique memories. I offer my thanks to each and every one who share our sense of loss. We may have been reminded how much of her presence and contribution to our national identity we took for granted.”
“I am also so grateful for the support and understanding offered to my dear brother Charles as he accepts the added responsibilities of The Monarch.”
To my mother, The Queen, thank you.
Such a beautiful tribute from Princess Anne.
Please share and send your condolences.
