Jeff Beck was perhaps one of the most prolific guitarists of his generation. He made tunes that people still love and listen to today. The news of his sudden death has not only come as a shock to many fans but also his family…
Jeff Beck was well known for his musical prowess. The guitarist was an eight-time Grammy nominee, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice as well. He was known as a member of the Yardbirds and later on his own works through the Jeff Beck Group.
Contemporaries such as the Heartbreakers’ Mike Campbell had nothing but praise for Beck. He had the distinct honor of being Number Five on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists.
“Jeff Beck has the combination of brilliant technique with personality. It’s like he’s saying, ‘I’m Jeff Beck. I’m right here. And you can’t ignore me.’ Even in the Yardbirds, he had a tone that was melodic but in-your-face – bright, urgent, and edgy, but sweet at the same time. You could tell he was a serious player, and he was going for it. He was not holding back,” Campbell said.
