At the age of 65, Donny Osmond is standing firm in his confession about something that he has “never” done… or ever intends to do.
It all started with his father, George Osmond, who produced a talented brood of children, including several who gained fame as part of the popular ’70s group, The Osmonds.
George sadly passed away in 2007. He and his wife, Olive, were parents to a total of nine children.
On the topic of his father, Donny told People magazine that is was because of his dad that he has “never” said a single curse word – especially as his father did not do so and had a profound influence on him throughout his life.
Reflecting on his father’s character, Donny recalled: “I never heard my father curse. He was tough, but he never swore.”
While Donny admits to occasionally entertaining the idea of using strong language in specific situations, he says he is quickly reminded of his late father. “Obviously, I still think the words! There are certain people I would love to say certain words to at certain times, but I just think, ‘Be like your dad.'”
Donny has consistently spoken about his commitment to navigating fame without being part of scandals, saying: “I decided long ago that I wasn’t going to do it with scandals, trickery, or promotional campaigns.”
The singer also said that sticking at what he loved helped him to get the lengthy career he has today. “It’s very difficult to break out of that teenybopper career. But thank goodness that through perseverance and a lot of support from my fan base, it happened. But it takes an awful lot of work to be accepted as an adult,” he said.
Throughout his career, Donny says he has reinvented himself many times – from embarking on a solo career after first making it big in a group. “I have gone through so many incarnations, and every time one of those incarnations came to an end, you start again. I had to keep reinventing myself. We all start again many times in our lives.”
The former teen heartthrob recently announced that he would be extending his residency at Las Vegas until May next year, several years after he and his sister Marie finished their joint Vegas residency in 2019.
