Brad Pitt is said to be aware that his daughter Shiloh has officially filed to remove the ‘Pitt’ segment of her last name, according to new reports.
Last week, it came to light that Shiloh had sought a legal name change the very day she turned 18 – making the act one of the first things she did as an adult. Not only that, but it’s been heavily rumored in recent times that two of Pitt’s other children, Vivienne, 15, and Zahara, 19, also want to drop ‘Pitt’ from their surnames.
Pitt shares a total of six children with ex-wife Angelina Jolie, and though once they cast the image of an adorable family unit, today there is no love lost between the two A-listers.
Rather, the couple have been caught up in an ugly legal battle concerning the sale of a French winery since their divorce in 2019.
Earlier this year, a new court filing by Jolie alleged that Pitt’s previously rumored “physical abuse” against his ex-wife began before the now infamous 2016 plane incident.
Days after said plane journey, Jolie filed for divorce, and the couple’s separation was finalized legally in 2019. For his part Pitt has denied the accusations, while an investigation into the incident was launched by federal authorities, though no criminal charges were filed.
In any case, one thing that appears abundantly clear is that Brad has become estranged from his six-strong brood since the breakdown of his marriage.
The fact that Shiloh would choose to drop his last name at the first available opportunity makes that fairly certain. Moreover, it’s now being reported that Pitt is aware of his daughter’s choice, and has been left “upset” by it.
“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter,” a source reportedly told PEOPLE.
“The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.”
Compounding matters is the recent speculation implying that Brad’s youngest daughter, Vivienne, also appears ready and willing to remove ‘Pitt’ from her name.
As per PEOPLE, the 15-year-old recently helped her mom produce a new musical named The Outsiders. In the official Playbill for the show, Vivienne’s name was listed as Vivienne Jolie, as opposed to Vivienne Jolie-Pitt.
At the time of writing Pitt is said to be in a relationship with the ex-wife of actor Paul Wesley, Ines de Ramon. Jolie, meanwhile, is not known to be dating anyone.
