Father of 2 dies after wife allegedly crashes into his car

A 40-year-old man of Konawa, Oklahoma, was pronounced dead after his vehicle flipped off the road in rural Seminole County, about 65 miles east of Oklahoma City. Now, his wife has become the center of the investigation as she allegedly followed him before slamming into the back of his vehicle, flipping the car off the road.

Just before 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 40-year-old Justin Wood was driving in rural Seminole County, approximately 65 miles east of Oklahoma City. KOCO 5 News reported that his car then, near the intersection of State Highway 59 and East-West 1290 Road, flipped, and Wood was pronounced dead at the scene.

Per People. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) confirmed that Justin, a father of two, died on the scene while his wife, Tamara Wood, 37, waited for law enforcement. However, his wife has now been brought to the center of the investigation.

“We’re in the early stages of the investigation, which really is the collision part itself,” Lt. Mark Southall with the OHP told KOCO News 5.

Now, reports suggest that Tamara Wood was following closely behind and hit the back of her husband’s car from behind, causing it to flip off the road.

“It could be months before we come up with a finalized answer before we submit our case to the district attorney’s office,” Southall explained, adding, “That is not out of the ordinary on these.”

“You know, that’s piecing together exactly how the dynamics of the collision, the collision, occurred. We will investigate other stuff, of course, if that played a role in it.”

After his death, Justin Wood’s family members now share emotional tributes. His 13-year-old son, Wyatt Wood, said in a statement to KOCO News 5 that Justin had attended his basketball game just a few hours before the accident.

“He’s the best dad that I could ever ask for. He’s the reason I am the way I am, and the reason I play sports and love basketball.”

Moreover, Justin Wood’s daughter, Abbey, said her father didn’t only mean the world to her and the family, but to the community.

“When he walked in the room, everyone just automatically loved him for the person that he was,” she said. “He was just a great human being. He could cut up with anyone, and … he could just talk and talk and make everyone laugh. He was just a great dad and a great person in general.”

The investigation is still in its early stages. Four days before the fatal crash, Tamara Wood posted a message on Facebook, reading, “I love you Justin,” according to the Daily Mail.

Sister makes comment

Many angry comments flooded the post made by the widow. That included Justin’s sister, Cassidy Fent, who commented.

“This was made 4 days ago! She’s not in jail, she’s under investigation. They let her go until the investigation on the ‘accident’ is complete,” Wood’s sister, Cassidy Fent, wrote under Tamara’s post.

Rest in peace, Justin.
