Michelle Yeoh surprised fans with her transformation at the red carpet premiere for Wicked: For Good. She turned up with a new blonde hairstyle that really turned heads, but that was not the only thing.
The actress looked very different from how she looked before Wicked. Some fans theorized that she looked drained and exhausted, while others thought the comments on her looks were unfair.
63-year-old Michelle Yeoh came to the premiere for Wicked: For Good in Singapore in a new dramatic blonde hairstyle, a short sheared bob. According to a media outlet, even her costars were surprised by it.
In a video posted on TikTok by People Magazine, her co-stars, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Jeff Goldblum, were all surprised by Yeoh’s new look.
“You’re blond!” Grande could be heard saying to the actress before she hugged her co-star, Erivo.
The actress was wearing a dress from Dutch designer Iris van Herpen’s Fall/Winter 2025 Couture Collection that suited her blond hair well. The dress was strapless, with a metallic corset bodice and a sheer brown skirt in a 3D honeycomb pattern.
While many fans were struck by her new hairstyle, others were concerned about her appearance in another way. They compared how different the actress looked in her latest appearance. Some fans thought the actress looks ‘too skinny’ right now.
One person wrote, “yeah like michelle yeoh has always been thin and fit but she is scarily skinny right now too”
While another captioned a picture of Yeoh at the premiere with the comment, not to body shame, but does anyone on the Wicked set eat?,”
Another fan was angry at the criticism and wrote, “michelle yeoh has always been skinny and plus she is 63 plus. she looks good and you should stop talking about people’s body”
Another wrote, “Michelle Yeoh has always been skinny.. also, skinny shaming is as bad as fat shaming.”
As for Yeoh, she was on the red carpet with reporters and made sure to keep the focus on the film rather than herself.
“They’re so different, but at the same time, they just fit together with love and great energy,” she said in an interview, while referring to her co-stars Grande and Erivo.
Michelle Yeoh has always been fit. In a report by Hello!, Yeoh’s love for sports such as running, swimming, and dance was revealed. She also said to The Washington Post that dance was her “first love,” and that she did ballet when she was young.
“As a little child, that was all I wanted to do was dance, whether it was ballet, but just in the world of dance, and that was what I went on to pursue in England as well,” Yeoh shared.
“Having that kind of discipline, that kind of training, I think, stays with you for the rest of your life. So you understand your core,” she said of her dance training.
