Just when it seemed like things had finally quieted down surrounding Hugh Jackman’s split from Deborra-Lee Furness, new reports claim the situation has become awkward again — this time involving Sutton Foster.

According to insiders, Hugh Jackman’s ex-wife Deborra-Lee is now reportedly ready to come face-to-face with his new girlfriend after their highly talked-about appearance together at the 2026 Met Gala.
For years, Hugh and Deborra were considered one of the Met Gala’s staple celebrity couples, regularly attending fashion’s biggest night side-by-side.
But earlier this month, fans watched that tradition officially change when the actor arrived at the event with Sutton Foster instead.
According to New Idea, Deborra had reportedly avoided being in the same room as Sutton since the split. However, sources now claim she’s finally ready to confront the situation directly.
“This isn’t about Deb being angry or wanting to read Sutton the riot act,” an insider told the outlet. “It’s about closure.”
The source claimed Deborra now feels meeting Sutton could help end the “awkwardness” and finally allow her to “speak her truth.”
Insiders also noted that the Met Gala held special meaning for Deborra and Hugh throughout their marriage.
The former couple last attended the event together in 2023, posing smiling on the red carpet before announcing their split later that year.

According to the source, seeing Sutton attend the event with Hugh this year — especially while wearing a large ring that fueled engagement rumors online — was deeply painful for Deborra.
“Deb had been warned Hugh would be appearing with Sutton, but it still felt like a knife to the heart seeing them there,” the insider claimed.
“This was her and Hugh’s ‘big night out’ for the year and they were there side-by-side, just like Sutton is today, just four years ago,” the source continued.
Reports also claim Deborra had hoped Hugh would once again attend the event solo, as he reportedly did in 2024.
“It adds an extra layer of hurt that Hugh’s so willing to pave over their historic nights out with new memories,” the insider alleged. “Deb is doing well moving on from what was a deeply hurtful betrayal, but seeing Sutton smiling on the arm of Hugh hurts,” they added.
Another point that reportedly upset Deborra was seeing Hugh and Sutton openly spending time together around New York City — a place sources described as being closely tied to her and Hugh’s life together.
According to the insider, it felt like the pair were “openly flaunting their romance and mingling with all the same people they used to socialise with as a couple,” which they claimed was “incredibly painful and humiliating” for Deborra.

“It might be easier to take if Hugh and Sutton weren’t constantly all over each other,” the source continued.
Meanwhile, separate reports have claimed the actor himself has become frustrated over what he allegedly sees as growing tension within Hollywood following the split.
Earlier this month, insiders alleged that stars including Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, and Russell Crowe had been “ditching him for Deb.”
The rumors gained traction after online speculation suggested Nicole Kidman appeared to avoid Hugh during the 2026 Met Gala. “Hugh’s becoming increasingly angry over the feeling that more and more people in Hollywood are quietly turning against him,” a source reportedly told Globe magazine.
“He blames Deb for it 100% and says there’s been a steady drip of poison behind the scenes from her and her camp,” the insider claimed. Hugh and Deborra first met in 1995 while filming the Australian TV series Corelli.
At the time, Hugh was fresh out of drama school, while Deborra was already an established actress in Australia. The pair married less than a year later and spent nearly three decades together, becoming one of Hollywood’s most recognizable long-term couples.
During their 27-year marriage, they also welcomed two children, son Oscar and daughter Ava. The couple officially announced their separation in 2023.
Sutton Foster was previously married to screenwriter Ted Griffin. Reports claim she and Hugh grew close while starring together in the Broadway production of The Music Man. Sutton later filed for divorce from Griffin in October 2024.
