Perez Hilton has been granted supervised visitation with his three children, weeks after being hospitalized following a mental health crisis.

Perez Hilton has spent the past several weeks in the hospital, recovering both physically and mentally from a harrowing incident that happened on August 4 and was livestreamed until TikTok shut it down.
On the livestream the 48-year-old appeared to be in the midst of a serious mental health crisis. Hilton was bloody and with a knife, saying he wanted to take his life.
Police arrived at Hilton’s home after his children were taken out of the house by his sister during the livestream, which was ultimately shut down by TikTok.
His sister, who was also present on the 4th, has since said she’d noticed some warning signs beforehand and left the home with the children before things escalated further.
Hilton was admitted under Florida’s Baker Act, a law that allows for temporary hospitalization during a psychiatric emergency.
What needs to happen before Hilton can see his children in person
According to Hilton, his memories from August 4 are shaky. He recalls being at home but only fragments after that, before waking up in a hospital bed with broken bones and with several wounds, trying to piece together what had happened.
A Miami judge has approved supervised visitation of his children, but two conditions need to be met first. A family member or therapist has to be present for any visit, and Hilton needs psychiatric clearance from a mental health professional. As of last weekend, that clearance had not happened yet.
Recovering from such an incident understandably takes time.
In the meantime, his children, Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8, are staying with their grandmother. Hilton has been able to talk to them on the phone.
Hilton’s recovery is still ongoing
A family friend told the Daily Mail that Hilton is still healing from his injuries, but still needs time to recover.
The family has been cautious about timing any reunion, wanting to give him space to heal further both physically and emotionally before an in-person visit happens.
“We don’t need to traumatize them all over again,” the friend said, adding that they’re hopeful his wounds will improve enough this week to move things forward.
