A family holiday in Spain ended in an unimaginable tragedy after the married couple, Thomasina Tobin, 51, and her husband Patrick, 48, were found dead in a hot tub at their rented villa.
They were staying at a holiday property in Cullera, near Valencia, when tragedy struck. Their teenage children made the heartbreaking discovery of their parents in the hot tub and called 911.
Spanish investigators initially considered several explanations. However, they quickly ruled out foul play. Instead, authorities believe Patrick and Thomasina may have died in a freak accident involving the hot tub.
One theory is that a problem with the tub’s powerful suction system may have played a role. Investigators have also examined the possibility that one of them suffered an emergency before the other tried to help.

It’s thought one person tried to free the other, but was then also unable to get out. Sources have said the incident was not being treated as a crime.
“According to the first investigations, the excessive suction force would have imprisoned the couple inside the bathtub, which triggered a situation of extreme anguish and desperate physical effort to free themselves from the hydraulic grip,” Las Provincias wrote, per Ladbible.
“The autopsy findings almost definitively reinforce the theory of accidental entrapment. Preliminary analyses indicate that the victims suffered cardiac arrest brought on by acute stress following physical exhaustion and the desperation of the moment.”

Their sudden deaths have left their family and friends devastated. Relatives of the ‘traumatised’ teens flew out to Spain within hours of learning of the horrifying incident.
A death notice described Thomasina and Patrick as much-loved parents who “shared a life filled with love, family and friendship,” adding that their death has left an “immeasurable void” in the lives of those who knew them.
