A 47-year-old San Jose woman who went viral after accusing a father of sex trafficking his own daughter because they have different skin colors has now been arrested.

Lindsay Hansen was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of multiple crimes, including stalking and hate crimes, after police connected her to the viral confrontation and several other incidents around San Jose.
Investigators reportedly used automated license plate reader cameras to identify Hansen’s vehicle after footage from the September 6 encounter spread online.
Her bail was set at $10,000, although a court date was not immediately available.
The incident that first brought Hansen widespread attention began when a San Jose father was walking through his neighborhood with his young daughter.
The father said he is brown while his daughter is half-white. According to his account, Hansen approached them in her vehicle multiple times before he eventually started recording.
In the video, Hansen leaned through the passenger-side window and claimed she had connections with federal authorities. “I’m recording you too. I work with the feds. Have a good day,” she says.
But Hansen then explained why she had become suspicious of the father and child. She says, “I’m just making sure that you’re not s*x trafficking this poor little girl who’s very unhappy to be with you and doesn’t look like you.”
She then made the racial basis of her accusation even more explicit, she goes on to say, “That’s a white little girl and you are a man of color,” adding, “So I believe you are either buying or selling or trafficking this child.”
The father later said Hansen had harassed him and his daughter more than once in their neighborhood, making the encounter appear to be part of a pattern rather than a one-time misunderstanding.
The footage quickly exploded online, with Hansen being branded the Bay Area’s latest “racist Karen.”
Ironically, the video that made her infamous also gave investigators something valuable; a clear view of her vehicle and license plate.
A Psychiatrist Said Hansen Believed It Was Her Job To “Drive Around And ID Pedophiles”
As people began digging into Hansen’s background, reports revealed a far more complicated history.
Hansen, who is also a mother, had reportedly maintained social media accounts filled with conspiracy theories, religious material and political content.
Posts attributed to her included claims surrounding the Epstein files, antisemitic material and a bizarre suggestion involving Pope Leo XIV.
She also reportedly claimed that the birth of her child in 2020 marked the beginning of the seven-year biblical tribulation, according to her interpretation of end-times events.
But her fixation on supposed predators allegedly went back even further.
In 2022, Hansen was held at Telecare Heritage Psychiatric Health Facility under a California 5250 psychiatric hold. She later publicly posted court documents related to the treatment.
In a declaration filed that May, psychiatrist Dr. Shellie Kahane described Hansen as experiencing symptoms consistent with bipolar disorder and a manic episode with psychotic features.
The filing described alleged delusions, auditory hallucinations and paranoia. Kahane also wrote that Hansen did not believe she was ill or needed medication.
One line from the evaluation became especially striking after Hansen’s arrest.
According to Kahane, Hansen “believes it is her job ‘to drive around and ID pedophiles’ and wants to continue to do so.”
The filing said Hansen had been prescribed Invega, an antipsychotic medication.
Police Also Linked Hansen To An Incident At A San Jose High School
The investigation didn’t stop with the viral father-and-daughter confrontation.
San Jose police said Hansen was also connected to an incident involving a local high school, where authorities alleged that a woman had been harassing members of school communities, recording and photographing people and posting the material online.
The San Jose Unified School District subsequently warned families about the alleged behavior.
Authorities said images circulating online appeared to show an adult woman who was not affiliated with the school entering a high school locker room.
Reports indicated that Hansen had recorded inside a girls’ locker room while making accusations involving school employees.
Police did not initially release every allegation connected to the incident, but investigators said it became part of a broader examination of what they described as a “series of other incidents” in San Jose.
Eventually, detectives located Hansen in the city and arrested her.
“SJPD Unit Detectives began a comprehensive investigation into all reported incidents and subsequently located and arrested the suspect in the city of San Jose,” police said.
The department also addressed the allegations circulating online, saying it remained committed to investigating reports of crimes affecting the community
