A mother of two in South Carolina is accused of launching a horrifying attack on her children. According to police, she stabbed them over 50 times. While both will survive, one of the children is now facing amputation.
The horrifying news out of South Carolina is something straight out of a horror movie. Taylor Gosnell, 35, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after authorities say her 3-year-old and 6-year-old children were attacked inside their home in Spartanburg County.
The South Carolina mother has been accused of launching a horrifying attack on her two young children, leaving both seriously injured and one facing the possibility of losing an arm.
Deputies were called to the home on September 26 after concerns were raised about the children. When they arrived, they reportedly found both youngsters alone, covered in blood, and with numerous injuries that appeared to have been caused by a knife.
“Between the two children, we’re estimating that there were approximately 50 stab wounds,” Graham McLellan at the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office told WCBD News 2.
Investigators believe the attack happened during the night before police were alerted. According to authorities, some of the 50 stab wounds, between them, reportedly were cutting all the way to the bone.
The children were rushed to the hospital following the horrifying attack and, luckily, are both expected to survive. However, the injuries suffered by the older child are particularly severe.

During a bond hearing, Prosecutors said that the 6-year-old could potentially need to have both fingers amputated and possibly an arm because of the injuries.
The home of the children reportedly also had signs of a violent struggle. Television and mirrors were damaged.
35-year-old Taylor Gosnell was taken into custody after returning to the home while deputies were continuing their investigation. Authorities said she was speaking rapidly and appeared distressed, and reportedly told them she was experiencing visions.
She was taken for a medical evaluation after allegedly attempting to flee while being transported in an ambulance. A judge later denied Gosnell bond, meaning she will remain behind bars as the case moves forward.
“Miss Gosnell attempted to flee at one point from the ambulance, so she was subsequently handcuffed to her stretcher,” the solicitor’s office told WCBD News 2.
Children in stable condition
“We’re going to do our job,” Graham McLellan said. “Our deputies are going to go out there and do what they have to do to make sure that there’s justice delivered for these children.”
The children were placed in protective custody and are currently being treated at the Greenville Children’s Hospital.
Taylor Gosnell’s next court appearance is scheduled for November 12, as the investigation remains ongoing. The sheriff’s office said she has pending child endangerment charges from 2024, although they didn’t reveal further details.
A neighbor said they were disturbed by what happened inside the home. Speaking with WCBD News 2, they said they didn’t hear anything from the house, but wished they could’ve helped the children
“I’m just praying that they’re placed somewhere that they will be safe and taken care of,” a neighbor said.
