Selma Blair issues apology after allegedly biting and punching flight crew

Legally Blonde star Selma Blair has issued an emotional apology after getting scrappy with two flight attendants mid-air, followed by accusations of assaulting a nurse and police officer after landing.

On Oct. 11, Selma Blair, 54, was travelling from Los Angeles to New York when she allegedly became violent toward members of the cabin crew, prompting the pilots to alert authorities before landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

According to dispatch audio shared by People, a “disruptive passenger” – identified as the star of Anger Management – “bashed her head on the bulkhead” after leaving two crew members with “some minor injuries,” including “a bloody nose as well as some bite marks as well.”

Also, Blair was accused of attempting to open an aircraft door during the flight, an allegation her representatives have denied.

Kicked a cop and nurse

By the time the plane landed, police were waiting to take Blair into custody and arrange medical treatment.

But the confrontation continued.

Court documents reviewed by ABC News allege that Blair repeatedly kicked a Port Authority police officer while being transported to ambulance, and later kicked a nurse in the chest at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.

The following day, Blair appeared in Queens Criminal Court, where she pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault involving the officer and nurse. She was subsequently released on bail, with another court appearance scheduled for Jan. 19, 2027.

‘I am so sorry’

Nearly three weeks later, Blair finally spoke publicly about the incident, sharing an emotional social media video on Oct. 30.

“I know I’ve been quiet for a couple weeks since October 11th,” she started. “The truest thing I know about myself, in that not one day ever have I intended to hurt or frighten anyone a day in my life.”

Fighting back tears, she continued, “And so, to the people that I disappointed, that I hurt, that I frightened, alarmed. I am so sorry.”

The actor also expressed gratitude to those who had contacted her with messages of support, particularly those concerned about her son and service dog, Scout.

“So right now, I’m going to be taking care of my health and my son, and thinking of you all with gratitude and love,” she said.

Ongoing battle with MS

Blair’s reference to her health comes amid questions about the medical circumstances surrounding the incident.

The actor, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, has faced ongoing challenges managing the condition, and reps claimed the Hellboy star “experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct.”

“Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition,” her reps said in a statement.

Speaking with People, a source close to Blair explained that “managing her MS is complicated and it can be a lot to handle”

“She makes mistakes. She’s not perfect. But she’s really trying to manage her health and keep up with work and commitments,” the source said.
