In the heart of Bangkok, officers thought they were ready for anything – until a hardened criminal wearing a pink collar walked through the door. Covered in fur and full of fight, the feisty suspect resisted arrest and left several officers licking their wounds.
On May 9, 2025, officers at Khlong Tan Police Station came face-to-face with an unexpected suspect: a small, furry escapee wearing a pink collar, a huge attitude and zero interest in being helped.
According to the South China Post, a concerned citizen found the American shorthair wandering the streets, and in a daring rescue by the human, the cat – who had clearly spent too much time on the mean streets of Bangkok – was taken into the station.
The pint-sized troublemaker, nicknamed Nub Tang – “counting money” in Thai – was welcomed with kindness by the officers. They offered food, comfort, and even toys but she didn’t purr in gratitude. Instead, she went full “cat burglar” mode.
Using her sharp claws and teeth to express her disdain for imprisonment, the young cat resisted arrest, ready to fight for her freedom.
‘Assaulted’ cops
According to officer Da Parinda Pakeesuk, who later became the star storyteller of this bizarre tale, the cat “assaulted” multiple officers with a flurry of bites and scratches.
In response, Pakeesuk shared the hilarious chaos online.
“This cat has been charged with assaulting police officers and is about to be detained. Please share this post so her owner can come and bail her out,” he wrote in the now-viral Facebook message.
Accompanying the post was an adorable mugshot – Nub Tang in full grumpy glory.
Cranky kitty
And just like that, the furry fugitive became a social media sensation.
People across Thailand – and eventually across the globe – couldn’t get enough. Memes, jokes, and fan-made wanted posters flooded the internet. Some dubbed her the “Meowlin Rouge,” others simply saluted her for standing her ground.
While the internet laughed, Nub Tang relaxed. She was soon photographed lounging in Officer Pakeesuk’s car, sitting calmly next to her “paw print records” – part of her mock arrest file.
“She is living her best life, while the police are the true victims,” Pakeesuk quipped in another post. And judging by the tiny diva’s expression in every photo, she absolutely agreed.
‘Beat the police officer’
As adoption offers poured in, Officer Pakeesuk made it clear: the mission was to reunite this little spitfire with her rightful human.
“I can’t give [her] away because if one day his owner comes after him and you become attached to [her] and don’t want to return [her], I’m afraid it will be a problem,” shared the animal lover.
Thankfully, the owner of the sassy cat saw the viral post and went to pick her up.
“This kid looks familiar,” writes Nub Tang’s human in a Facebook post. “The mother is stressed because the child is famous because he ran away and then beat the police officer until it became viral overnight.”
‘Granted bail’
On May 13, the officer then shared another post showing images of the adorable cat having her paw prints taken, and behind bars.
“The investigating officer of the case charged [her] with ‘attempting to subdue an official’ and released on bail. [Took] fingerprints of the accused (fingerprint pad), [made] a record, and granted bail. Urine test did not detect any narcotic grass (cat grass) in the urine. Let’s meet at the World Cat Court!!!” he writes in the post that’s been viewed by about 4.5 thousand netizens.
‘Just hungry’
To put the perfect bow on this viral saga, Officer Pakeesuk shared a fictional police report written from Nub Tang’s perspective:
“I was just hungry. I didn’t mean to bite anyone.”
When handing her back to her owner, he added a humorous warning: “This case must be handled properly. We cannot have other cats thinking that biting people is acceptable.”
Adopt a stray
After thanking his followers for helping Nub Tang find her mom, the kind-hearted Pakeesuk, who according to his social media frequently rescues dogs and cats, explained that he has “20 stray cats and 6 to 7 stray dogs” needing a forever home.
“If you really love cats, you can come and adopt a stray cat from my house. I’m happy to help. Or you can adopt any stray cat. They just don’t look like nobles, but they are cute and cuddly,” he shared.
While the story had all the makings of a great internet laugh – a grumpy cat, playful cops, and a fake arrest – it also revealed something more heartwarming: a glimpse into the kindness and humor of everyday heroes.
Nub Tang might have scratched a few officers, but she clawed her way into all our hearts.
