Cher knows how to turn back time, and she’s willing to fill us all in on her secret.
“I just can’t believe I will be 80 at some point, sooner than I wish,” the 77-year-old said during an appearance on Good Morning Britain. “And I will still be wearing my jeans and I will still be wearing long hair and I will still be doing the same stuff I’ve always done.”
While she credits her younger-looking outward appearance to keeping up with the latest trends, she attributes her youthful looks to “pretty amazing” genes.
“I don’t know if not feeling old makes you younger. I keep up with the trends. I have lots of young friends. I have old friends too. Honestly I’m not trying to feel young. I’m not trying to be young. I am who I am. I’m just getting along.”
The “Believe” singer recalled a time she and her friend Paulette discussed when they’d have to give up their signs of youth “because it seemed like in those days that’s what women did — and it hasn’t hit yet.”
Previously Cher revealed some of the ways she stayed healthy and fit.
“I quit smoking. I don’t do drugs. I never drink coffee and almost never drink alcohol or eat red meat, so I’m way ahead of the game,” she wrote in her January 1991 book with co-author Robert Haas.
“I try to avoid foods with a high fat content because they make me sluggish and keep my weight up,” she added. “Dairy products are not good for us. I weaned myself from whole milk to nonfat milk—if I’m having milk at all.”
While Cher stays up on the latest trends, there’s one she’s confessed to that she won’t be following: letting her hair go gray.
In 2022, the the award-winner admitted “[Going gray] is fine for other girls. I’m just not doing it!”
Cher turned 77 in May 2023.
