Actress Danica McKellar, who is known for starring in countless Hallmark movies before making the move to GAC Family, recently revealed that her fellow co-star Candace Cameron Bure has helped her develop a relationship with God.
She described her new experience as “a relationship with God and Jesus that I’ve never had before.”
McKellar spoke about her relationship with religion in a recent Instagram Live.
She said that while growing up she questioned organized religion, specifically Christianity, because of the hypocrisy within it.
“It being used for evil, power & control throughout history, and that had definitely biased me,” she wrote on Instagram.
During her live video, she admitted she had been struggling with forgiveness and reached out to her friend Bure for guidance. The former Full House and Fuller House star responded by sending McKellar a Bible and inviting McKellar to church.
Bure also commented on McKellar’s post offering encouragement and prayers.
“God’s love is bigger than any human love and when He sweeps you up in understanding how powerful it is, because He is, it’s undeniable,” she wrote. “Praying for you on your journey and relationship with Jesus my sweet friend.”
McKellar shared with her followers that her Christian journey was only just beginning, so she wanted to make it clear, “I am learning.”
“This journey feels different from anything I’ve ever experienced before,” she said. “…It’s blowing my mind. Because I have always had this preconceived notion about what that was when people talked about Jesus and the Lord… I just didn’t quite get it.”
The actress shared she’s still currently looking for her own church since Bure’s church is too far away to attend on a regular basis.
While McKellar said she’s been on her faith journey for less than a month, she’s found it incredibly rewarding.
“I have been going to church and finding a lot of amazing love and peace and purpose, and it’s blowing my mind,” she said. “I feel a lot of joy in my heart and I always like to share that when I can with you guys.”
Isn’t this beautiful?! I hope Danica continues on her faith journey.
