Emma Watson is best known for her iconic portrayal of Hermione Granger in the original Harry Potter film series. She has hence been in the spotlight since she was 10 years old and took on the role.

The actress starred in all eight of the movies based on the books by JK Rowling. She later went on to act in other movies as well, including, Little Women, Beauty and The Beast, Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Bling Ring.

However, she has largely left acting since her last appearance in 2019’s Little Women. The actress famously chose academia over Hollywood and enrolled at Oxford University, to get a masters in creative writing.

The actress wants to make sure she gets the full student experience as she can, participating in Oxford’s student life fully.

It has been reported that Watson has taken the role of coxswain on one of the university’s rowing teams. An image of the actress at the bow of the New College’s women’s third team’s boat was published in late May.

She was wearing a pair of Ray Bans, a white cap, and a white sleeveless polo shirt with her life jacket.

Of course, to people who grew up watching Watson portray one of the most iconic characters on screen this might seem strange. However, Watson seems to be more than happy with her decision to leave the glitz and glamor of the acting world behind.

In an interview early last year, she said, “I’m just so glad that I did [step away from acting] because I have this feeling of having my own voice and creative space and sovereignty in some way that I don’t think I did before – more autonomy,” she said.

“I’m so glad that I allowed things to be messy for a minute and to really allow myself to not know [what’s next], because the knowing that I’ve come to, I wouldn’t trade that for anything,” the actress said in the interview at the time.

It seems like Emma Watson has really taken to her academic life and student life at Oxford. What do you think of her new hobby? Let us know on the comments section on Facebook.
