Actor Jamie Foxx was hospitalized in April for an undisclosed medical condition, prompting a lot of speculation and concern from fans. Many worried about the actor’s health, with statements from friends indicating that his health was seriously deteriorating.
But recently, Foxx made his first public appearance in months, waving to fans from a boat.
Jamie Foxx – hospitalization and health rumors
The 55-year-old Oscar-winner was hospitalized on April 11. A statement from his daughter Corinne stated that he had “experienced a medical complication” but was “already on his way to recovery.”
But because Foxx’s family did not offer any further details — and because the actor himself has been out of the public eye — fans have speculated that his condition could be serious. Sources close to Foxx further fueled rumors about his health.
An anonymous source stirred speculation about Jamie Foxx by saying that, despite what his family is saying, he’s in serious condition and that his friends and family were preparing for the worst.
“Jamie’s people are saying he’s doing OK and improving, while doctors try to get to the bottom of his problems — but he wouldn’t be in a hospital this long if he was anything close to OK,” a source told RadarOnline. “His friends and family are hoping for the best — but preparing for the worst!”
“My heart is heavy this morning,” tweeted actress Nia Long. “Praying for our brother Jamie Foxx. My love and prayers run deep for you and your loved ones.”
However, Corinne Foxx disputed the rumors, saying that her father had “been out of the hospital for weeks” and was “playing pickleball.”
First public appearance in months
Recently, Jamie Foxx was seen in public for the first time since his hospitalization: According to TMZ, onlookers spotted Foxx aboard a boat on the Chicago River.
While the footage is brief and from a distance, it still marks the first time Foxx has been seen out since his hospitalization, and he seems to be in good spirits, waving to his fans.
Foxx has certainly been keeping a low profile since his hospitalization. He hasn’t been seen in public at all and only shared one post on social media, thanking fans for their support: “Appreciate all the love! Feeling blessed,” he wrote on May 3.
Last month, Foxx missed the premiere of his upcoming Netflix film They Cloned Tyrone, and his co-stars wished him well.
“I wanted him to show up here but you know, I know he’s dealing with what he’s dealing with, and we just wish him all the best,” John Boyega told ET.
Foxx’s health also forced him to miss this season of Beat Shazam: Nick Cannon is stepping in as guest host. However, he seems optimistic he will be able to return to hosting duties in the near future, as he recently signed on to host a new game show alongside his daughter Corinne.
We’re glad to see Jamie Foxx seems to be doing well months after his hospitalization — we wish him the best and hope to see him back on our screens soon!
