Knox Jolie debuts bold new hair after dropping ‘Pitt’ from his name as Brad reveals he’s drinking again after seven years sober.
Knox Jolie has been spotted with a new look following the major personal decision of dropping his father Brad Pitt’s surname just weeks before turning 18.
While he has previously kept his hair closely shaved, the teen has now been photographed leaving Muay Thai sessions with wavy hair in a phoenix-like colorway.
Knox is not the first of the Jolie-Pitt children to make the move regarding his father’s surname. His twin Vivienne has filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court to legally change her name to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. Zahara has filed to become Zahara Marley Jolie. Maddox is seeking to be known as Maddox Chivan Jolie. Shiloh changed her name to Shiloh Jolie back in 2024.
It is not yet known whether Knox has filed official paperwork, though Page Six reported he used just ‘Jolie’ at graduation.
Why are the siblings dropping their father’s surname?
The news about Knox comes as Brad Pitt made a candid admission of his own in an interview with Esquire, revealing he has started drinking again after seven years of sobriety.
“I was sober for seven years and then I got back off the wagon,” he said, adding that he is trying to drink in a more restrained way and knows his limits.
“I got overconfident a couple times, went, ‘Yep, nope, not good for me. Not in big quantities.’ I can have a few but I can’t have a lot. I have to be professional about it.”
A source close to Pitt told People “It’s sad to see someone repeatedly publicize their successful alienation of their children from the other parent.”
According to court documents, however, the reason for the children choosing to distance themselves from their father has more to do with him than their mother.
Cross-complaint filings originating from an FBI investigation into a September 2016 flight detail a prolonged, violent altercation that served as the catalyst for the family’s separation.
During the flight, Pitt reportedly grabbed Angelina Jolie by the head and shoulders, shook her, threw her into a bathroom wall, and repeatedly punched the ceiling. When the children attempted to intervene and defend their mother, Pitt lunged at one of them, choked another, and struck a third in the face.
The filings describe a terrifying environment where the children sat silent under blankets for hours while crying, as Pitt kept berating them and poured beer and wine over them.
Upon landing, Pitt attacked one of the children again. He also prevented the family from getting off the plane for 20 minutes while continuing to shout profanities.
The siblings’ decisions seem to reflect a collective boundary set by young adults seeking to distance themselves from abuse rather than a tabloid narrative.
