Catherine, the Princess of Wales, recently disclosed her cancer diagnosis, earning admiration for her grace and courage from people worldwide.
At 42 years old, Kate bravely shared her health struggles with the world, revealing that she underwent surgery in January initially for what was thought to be a non-serious condition. However, subsequent tests uncovered a cancer diagnosis.
Initially, the Royal Family remained tight lipped upon learning the shock news, despite an increasing amount of conspiracy theories making the rounds on social media.
Then, on March 10 – Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom – Kensington Palace posted an image of Kate with her three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis. However, eagle-eyed netizens were quick to point out the various editing flaws, which further added to the bizarre conspiracy theories.
Eventually, a statement was released, signed by Kate, whereby she explained that she had edited the images herself.
Kate Middleton – cancer diagnosis
As the speculation surrounding her absence only seemed to grow, a video was published on March 22, during which Kate stated she had sadly been diagnosed with cancer and had started chemotherapy.
The Princess of Wales explained that at the time she underwent the abdominal surgery, it was thought that her condition was non-cancerous, and the surgery was successful. However, when undergoing tests after the operation, doctors found that cancer had been present.
“My medical team, therefore, advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment. This, of course, came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she said in the clip.
“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I am going to be ok. As I have said to them, I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body, and spirits.”
The Princess of Wales continued praising her husband, Prince William, saying it is a “great source of comfort and reassurance” having him by her side. Further, Kate asked the public for privacy moving forward.
