In a recent revelation on her podcast, Doherty expressed her desire for her funeral to be a celebration rather than a mournful event. Instead of tears, she said she envisions people coming together to celebrate the life she led.
“I don’t want people to be crying or people to want people to privately [be] like thank God that they’re just dead now,” she stated, highlighting her wish to remembered in a happy and positive way.
Doherty also spoke about how she envisions her memorial service taking place in the comfort of her home, more like a party than a traditional funeral, so that loved ones have the chance to remember her in a warm and familiar setting. Additionally, she added that, although it’s an admittedly “morbid” topic, she wants to be cremated and have her ashes mixed with those of her dog and her father.
