Victoria Beckham insists the secretive place she used to meet David on dates isn’t as ‘seedy as it sounds’

Victoria Beckham is taking time to reflect on the beginning stages of her relationship with David Beckham and the secretive way they used to meet up, which she swears isn’t as “seedy” as it sounds.

“My manager kept saying, ‘Try and keep it under wraps, so we would meet in car parks,” the former Spice Girl revealed in a Netflix documentary about her husband, David Beckham.

My manager kept saying, ‘Try and keep it under wraps, so we would meet in car parks,” she recalled. “And that’s not as seedy as it sounds.”

The pair first met in 1997 when they were both in their prime.

“She came to a football match — soccer match — and I said hi from across the room, and that was it,” David told Ellen Degeneres in 2008, “I thought I’d missed my chance, and then a week later she turned up at another football match.”

Although at the time, Victoria admitted to being ignorant, she complied with her manager’s warning to keep their relationship a secret or suffer the consequences.

The Beckhams, who share four children, first met in 1997 at one of David’s soccer matches.

“She came to a football match — soccer match — and I said hi from across the room, and that was it. I thought I’d missed my chance, and then a week later she turned up at another football match,” he told Ellen DeGeneres in 2008.

He later revealed the two spoke for an hour in the players’ lounge before Victoria had to leave. But before they went their separate ways, Victoria wrote her number down on the back of her train ticket.

A little token from their first encounter that David still has to this day.
