Michael Douglas, 78, makes rare appearance with his 22-year-old son who’s all grown-up now

Given that Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are two of the world’s most famous faces where showbiz is concerned, it makes sense to assume that their spotlight is shared to some degree by their children.

Yet fans reacted in surprise when Douglas took to the red carpet on Monday alongside his son Dylan, who reportedly does his best to stay out of the limelight whenever possible.

Douglas, now 78, is performing in Good Night, Oscar at the Belasco Theatre in New York, but it seems as though it was his son who got the lion’s share of the attention when he posed for photos at the red carpet event earlier this week.

Dylan, 22, was last seen at the premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which dad Michael stars in – alongside his mother, Catherine Zeta-Jones.

As per Entertainment Tonight, the eldest child of Douglas and Zeta-Jones said:

“I mean, obviously, they’re great actors, both Academy Award-winning actors, but they’re great parents.

“And that’s a side that not everyone gets to see, but I get to see every day, in and out.

“So on that front, they do great. And they also do good work on the screen.”

He might be someone who prefers to stay away from the flashing of cameras, but fans were certainly happy to see Dylan when he walked the red carpet on Monday.

Born in 2000, Dylan Douglas was his mom’s first child and his father’s second.

While many might have hedged bets on him following his parents’ footsteps into the entertainment industry, he’s not yet chosen to go down that route.

Last summer, proud mom Catherine couldn’t hide her joy while celebrating Dyland’s graduation from the prestigious Brown University in Rhode Island. The actress wrote: “Graduation congratulations to my boy, my pride, my joy, Dylan. I am inexplicably proud of you and I love you beyond words.”

Speaking on the possibility of both Dylan and his younger sister entering into the family business, Zeta-Jones said: “My son has done theatre production since high school.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m just utterly fascinated with the children of high-profile celebrity pairings – how they look, what their lives are like, what they choose to do as they get older.
