‘NCIS’ star David McCallum proudly posts photos of 8 grandkids who look just like him

David McCallum is well known and much-loved for his roles on television, not least his work on The Man from U.N.C.L.E in the 1960s, and more recently NCIS.

Now 89 years old, the actor has lived a very long and storied life. He’s been married twice, is a proud grandfather to no less than eight grandkids, and these days his face is recognizable most everywhere.

McCallum was first married to the late Jill Ireland in London in the year 1957. Eventually, he lost his first wife to her then-costar, Charles Brosnan, who married and remained with Ireland until her death.

McCallum only ever expressed support for his former wife and Brosnan, going so far as to say he was happy that the two found each other. It was not long after his divorce to Ireland that he found a more permanent love with Katherine Carpenter.

Today, McCallum and Carpenter have been happily married for some 55 years! The NCIS star has a total of five children from his two marriages, and those children have given him eight grandchildren in turn – grandchildren that, by all accounts, David dotes on and loves tremendously.

Indeed, McCallum himself has claimed in the past that he always did his best to be a present father and build strong relationships with his kids. His youngest son from his first marriage, Jason, died aged just 20, and his passing tore a hole in McCallum’s reality.

“You never come to terms with the death of a child,” the actor said.

“The pain is very real, but it acts like an ache that turns into anger.”

Interestingly, it was only after Jason’s death that David found out he had made him a grandfather. As per reports, a young woman contacted McCallum after Jason’s drug overdose-related demise to tell him that she and Jason had a child together, Tory.

By all accounts, David and the rest of the family have warmly embraced Tory, one of David’s eight granddchildren.

As per AmoMama, David’s grandchildren refer to him as “Granddaddy” or “Grandducky”. The actor himself has stated that he feels “Grandpa” sounds too old.

The Scottish-born star doesn’t have Instagram, but commonly posts pictures with his grandkids to his Facebook page.

McCallum posts many pictures, usually including a caption to explain what the picture is about. One such photo was uploaded to Facebook in early 2019, depicting McCallum with three grandchildren and three other adults.

The actor has spoken in the past on the fact that many of his grandchildren live on separate sides of the US.

“I keep the boys and girls on different coasts so I can keep them straight,” he joked.

I don’t know about you, but it makes my heart warm to see David’s relationship with his family.

I think more big-name stars should be like this; putting family first and enjoying home comforts as opposed to seeking controversy in a bid to garner more fame.
