Influencer Tanner Martin warned people of two colon cancer signs before announcing his own death in heartbreaking video

Influencer Tanner Martin died in June 2025 at the age of 30. He had been diagnosed with colon cancer five years earlier and decided to share his own passing in a heartbreaking pre-recorded video. Moreover, Martin also shared a video of signs of colon cancer he experienced, hoping to help others detect it early.

In 202, influencer Tanner Martin first began experiencing symptoms of colon cancer. At first, the problems seemed relatively minor, and neither he nor his wife, Shay Wright, suspected that it was cancer.

Shay appeared on The Unplanned Podcast and said that early signs included ongoing stomach and bowel problems. Tanner also experienced discomfort when sitting for long periods.

“He just started to have bowel/stomach issues, and he had issues sitting down for a long period of time. He was really uncomfortable,” Shay Wright explained, adding that it’s “really common” for colon cancer patients to notice changes in bowel movements.

“He went to the doctor numerous times, and the doctor gave him some medicine,” she said. “It helped with his stomach issues, but issues kept coming back.”

Tanner Martin’s symptoms eventually led to further medical investigations. By the time doctors diagnosed him with stage 4 colorectal cancer, the disease had already spread to his liver.

Martin underwent several rounds of treatment and surgery over the following years. Although he experienced periods of hope, the cancer eventually returned and became terminal.

In 2023, doctors told the couple that his cancer could not be cured. But despite everything he was going through, Martin continued sharing his experiences with his online community.

Shortly before his death in June 2025, Tanner Martin released a video on TikTok where he warned about the two key signs of colon cancer.

“I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer when I was 25 years old, and the symptoms that I saw in that period of time included blood in the stool,” Tanner Martin explained. “And when I say blood, it wasn’t like a little blood, it was changing the color of the water.”

Martin went on to describe the blood as “dark” and resembling “coffee grounds,” which can signal bleeding in the digestive tract. He also experienced lower back pain and sudden changes in his weight.

Tanner continued, “But the biggest sign was the bleeding and the frequency, cause I was going to the bathroom a lot, and sometimes it was just blood and blood clots. But when I told my doctors about it, he tried treating my symptoms for a couple of months, and then we finally got a colonoscopy, which is where they found the cancer that had spread to my liver, making it stage four,” begging his viewers to see a doctor if they have the same symptoms or have a history of cancer in the family.

Announced his own death in heartbreaking video

Then came the devastating day Tanner Martin’s body eventually gave in. On June 25, 2025, he announced his own death in a pre-recorded message, shared on Instagram by his wife, Shay. He passed away at home in American Fork, Utah.”

“Hey, it’s me, Tanner. If you’re watching this, I am dead,” Martin began the video. “I had a heck of a life. I decided to make this video announcing my death because I saw someone did that, like, a year or so ago, and I thinkit’ss a good opportunity to get all your thoughts out”

Still, while Tanner Martin had undergone five gruesome years of cancer, he remained positive until the very end, saying that “life was awesome.”

“I really enjoyed it while I was here, he continued. “Hopefully, I believe there’s something after this. I’m excited to meet those people, and hopefully we’re hanging out now and making fun of all you nerds.”

“There’s just a lot of people that, for the afterlife, I’m excited to see them, and excited to see them not in pain and just happy.”I don’t know. I’m like, death is scary, but it’s also like a new adventure, you know. I’m excited to see what the experience is like, and hopefullyit’ss good.”

Tanner ended the video by saying, “Thank you for the support and helping to make the last years of my life here on earth fun and enjoyable, and helping me be comfortable.”
