While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there’s a lot that we do to look “beautiful” in others’ eyes as well as our own. Everyday, I put on makeup to feel and look my best: it’s a routine I’ve had since I was 16 years old, and it’s something I could never skip!
Of course, now, there are more extreme ways to be more “beautiful.” Many people turn to plastic surgery to look how they want to look. A less extreme alteration? Fake tans.
In recent years, the beauty ideal has shifted from lily-white skin to a sun-kissed glow. So for a glamorous event, makeup artist Lucy Regler decided to give her skin a slightly darker tone.
The 21-year-old said, according to The Sun, “I did one coat on Friday and it didn’t even look like I had tan on – so I did it again on Saturday.”
Little did she know that she would end up with a disastrous result. A large part of her body, including her hands and her chest, were left a dark orange hue with tanning streaks. The results were so horrible that she called them “diabolical.”

“It looks absolutely vile,” she continued. “There won’t be a next time – not for myself anyway. I’d tell others just don’t fake tan ever. Don’t do it.”
I faked tanned and only done one of the thousand of chins ????

“I’ve scrubbed, I’ve itched and everything – I’ve used a skin peeler and it didn’t work, nothing will get it off. It’s just not fading and now I’ll have to wait.
What did we all think of tonight’s live?

“The next morning when I woke up I just cried. The color compared to the rest of my body was just diabolical. I’ve learnt my lesson.”
She posted photos of the terrible tan online, and the color difference was so stark that her friends thought that she had been kidnapped by someone who was holding their hand over her mouth!
Not to worry though, this young lady is safe and sound—she will just never use fake tanner again!
This is truly horrifying—we would be too afraid to walk outside looking like this. We learned a valuable lesson from Lucy’s mishap! Please share this lesson with the beauty-obsessed in your life!
