Homemade over cleaning hack goes viral – you’ll never clean your oven the same way again

Cleaning the oven is something I like to put off indefinitely. Of course, this method just prolongs the punishment, meaning I have a far bigger task when I eventually get around to doing it.

Every time I want to reinvigorate the inside of my oven it’s a momentous project. The stains are tough, the residue of cooked food baked on hard and certain areas nigh on impossible to reach.

I usually tackle it with the things available in my cleaning cabinet. Unfortunately, this rarely works well – sometimes I’ve even tried scrubbing with baking soda instead.

After half an hour of toiling, sweating and pushing my aching arms to the limit it looks … okay. But does it really have to be that hard?

Luckily, I’ve since stumbled upon a far simpler method. You can get a fantastic solution that solves the problems efficiently, all by mixing a few simple ingredients.

Homemade oven cleaner

So here goes; the “recipe” for a great over cleaner, free of strong chemicals and – as per Reader’s Digest – every bit as potent as the stuff you’ll find in the stores.

In any case, this homemade concoction is certainly worth a try.

So, instead of spending a small fortune on expensive chemicals and flashy solvents, put together your own mixture with what you already have in your kitchen by following the steps below:

Ingredients

  • 4 table spoons of dishwashing liquid
  • 3.7 fl oz of lemon juice / citron extract
  • 7.6 fl oz of vinegar
  • 43 fl oz of lukewarm water

What to do

Mix the above ingredients into a spray bottle and coat the inside of the oven in the solution. Allow the mixture to soak in for a while before you wipe off. When you do, you should find that grime and dirt comes off far easier.

Does it really work?

Well … yes. One Facebook user uploaded her results and her post went viral, garnering more than 54,000 comments and 364,000 shares.

It’s resulted in an abundance of people abandoning traditional cleaning sprays and chemicals in favor of this simple, homemade method.
