6-month-old boy killed, 3 injured when stolen car crashes into pick-up – rest in peace

A car crash that claims lives, especially young lives is heartbreaking. This senseless tragedy claimed the life of a young baby boy and injured several other people as well.

Shawn Walker’s surveillance cameras captured everything that went wrong. In the footage, a pickup truck can be seen driving northbound on Kostner before a Hyundai Sonata which was stolen crashed straight into it. The Sonata came to rest at a light pole while the truck hit a large tree.

“The baby wasn’t breathing, so we started doing CPR,” Walker stated. “My main thing was so we could get a pulse back into the baby.”

The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the 6-month-old boy as Cristian Uvidia. The baby was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital on Monday afternoon.

The baby had turned 6 months old just a day before the fateful accident, his family told the media.

After the accident, fire crews rushed to the scene to rescue the family. Their conditions were listed from serious to critical as they were rushed to the hospital.

Officers spent over four hours at the scene of the accident gathering evidence and speaking to witnesses.

Two suspects from the stolen Hyundai were taken into custody. Both were minors; 14 and 17-year-old boys. They were charged with the crime of possessing a stolen vehicle.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds for a funeral for little Cristian.

The description outlined the heartbreaking events. It read how the event of his death came about, “he suffered from an impact that fractured his skull, causing his brain to swell and eventually killing him.”

It went on saying, “We are devastated, and we are broken. We will miss his sweet smile, as he was a joy to everyone that he met.”

The description clarified, “Part of the money will also go towards medical expenses, as mom and sisters are currently in the hospital with injuries but in stable condition.”
