Everyone has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, and with social distancing laws shuttering bars around the world, it’s safe to say this isn’t the best time to be a beer brewery (especially if your beer happens to have the same name as the virus…)
But even with everything going on, one brewer has found a way to switch gears and make a positive difference in the fight against the coronavirus.
Scotland-based brewery BrewDog is known for their popular craft beers, especially their Punk IPA.
But now they’re making headlines for a very different but still very “punk” product.
The coronavirus has caused a shortage of hand sanitizer, which is a big problem for places like hospitals who really need it.
So BrewDog has stepped up to just make their own:
Their Scotland distillery is producing “BrewGel Punk Sanitiser.” It makes sense—it’s still an alcoholic product, in a way.
“We are determined to do everything we can to try and help as many people as possible stay safe,” they wrote on Twitter. “It’s time to keep it clean.”
It’s important to note that they’re not selling the hand sanitizer—it would probably be in bad taste to try and profit off a pandemic—but rather are giving it out to those who really need it.
But rest assured, they’re still selling beer, and while the bars are closed you can still get some in the UK from a drive-thru:
