Buffalo Bills’ stadium worker blown away by Taylor Swift’s generosity at NFL game

Since Taylor Swift transitioned into superstardom and amassed a fortune, her profile as a philanthropist also exploded.

In the recent past, the 12-time Grammy Award winner has donated money to cancer, disaster relief organizations and supported food banks along the path of her Eras Tour.

On January 21, 2024, braving the frigid cold in Buffalo, New York to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce, Swift changed the life of one woman with a tip that left the Swifty buzzing.

On Sunday, January 21, Taylor Swift, 34, was at Buffalo’s Highmark Stadium, cheering on her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, at the Bills-Kansas City Chiefs NFL Divisional playoff game.

Now a main feature at Chiefs games, it’s not uncommon for Swifties to hunt her down in stadiums, many that have a capacity of more than 71,000 people.

While the “Shake it Off” singer is adored by millions worldwide, she is not equally revered by football fans, who at Sunday’s game, greeted her with boos.

The boos this time, were likely not just directed at Swift, who showed up wearing a white and red jacket, the teams’ colors.

The Chiefs and Bills were both pushing to win the divisional round, taking the winning team to the conference championships ahead of the Super Bowl. Any fan wearing opposing team colors were targets.

In December 2023, Swift spoke with Time about the heat she gets from NFL fans: “I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

Meanwhile down on the field, Kelce dismissed the heckling fans and tossed his sweetie a heart symbol with his hands.

“Yeah, man, had to spread the love, baby. You always gotta spread that love, baby,” Kelce said in his podcast New Heights. “I don’t hate you guys like you hate us. It’s all love, baby.”

Spreading the love

Swift also continued to show her love, acknowledging fans and their signs of adoration when she had the opportunity.

Buffalo Bills season ticket holder Matt C. and his son, Colin, were seated below the Kelce family suite, where Swift watched the game along with Brittany Mahomes, wife of Chiefs’ player Patrick Mahomes, and Philadelphia Eagles center Jason, Kelce’s big brother.

The Bills fan, who said “Taylor’s suite was rowdy,” gushed over a moment where Jason jumped into the crowd and plucked a girl from the stands, allowing her to show the “Karma” singer her homemade sign.

“That was really sweet, and we loved that,” Matt said in an interview with People. “That little girl really wanted to let Taylor see her sign, and Jason made it happen.”

Meanwhile, at the Toyota Club – a members-only space in the stadium – Jerris Rainey, a ticket taker, was also hoping to catch a glimpse of the “Cruel Summer” singer.

Rainey caught more than just a glimpse.

The woman found herself having a conversation with world’s biggest popstar and describes Swift as “very down to earth.”

Speaking with 7 News the next day, Rainey said, “She’s a sweetie pie. Very down to earth.” She continues, “I just wanted to just see her, and she, you know, she stopped and she asked me if I worked at the stadium. I said yes. And she asked if she could give me a tip.”

Not many people stadium workers would turn down a tip, so Rainey eagerly agreed.

But it wasn’t just the tip she received, it was the lasting memory of meeting the kind-hearted “Miss Americana.”

Rainey adds, “She gave me $100 and then she asked if I wanted to take a picture with her and I said yes.”

The worker left that night with an adorable closeup picture of her and the pop superstar, while the Chiefs left with a win against the Bills, a final score of 27-24, which puts the team one step closer to playing the Super Bowl on February 11, 2024.

While Swift has been the Chiefs’ biggest champion since she started dating Kelce a few months ago, she may not be cheering from the stands if the team advances to the Super Bowl.

The singer-songwriter is continuing her Eras Tour in Tokyo, Japan and her last show is February 10, which doesn’t give her too much time to head out to Las Vegas for the huge sporting event.
