Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are doting grandparents to several little girls. The couple is always happy to share the details of their time with their grandchildren, and in a recent interview, revealed what quality time with them looked like.
Doting grandpa Tom Hanks said, “All you gotta do is love those little brats and they’re better than TV,” but he quickly added, “They’re not little brats, they’re extraordinary young women.”
“They are extraordinary young women,” Rita quickly emphasized with a laugh.
Tom Hanks has four children. He shares his two sons Chet, 32, and Truman, 27, with wife Rita Wilson. But he also has two children Colin, 45, and daughter Elizabeth, 41, from his previous marriage.
Colin is the father to two girls named Olivia and Charlotte, while Chet is also a dad to daughter Michaiah. In total, Tom and Rita have three grandchildren to dote on.
Rita shared her way to winning grandchildren over; you just have to quality spend time with them. The actress said, “You got to get on the trampoline with them, you got to get in the pool with them, you got to get on the tennis court, you got to do all the sports. You just got to hang out.”
“You have to make their macaroni and cheese just perfectly,” Hanks added as he laughed.
The interview shows how Tom and Rita are ‘fun’ grandparents who do what their grandchildren want. Back in October 2022, Colin hanks shared how he viewed their grandparenting style. The actor was on the Today show, and joked about how Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson followed their own set of rules when it came to his girls.
“It would be great if they paid attention to the kids’ bedtime,” Colin joked, adding in another thing he noticed, which was that his girls also”get a lot of sugar” when they are with their famous grandparents.
