Donald Trump calls Melania ‘great first lady’ at gala dinner – confirms she wants to become first lady again

Melania Trump has been keeping herself out of the camera’s reach in recent months. The former first lady has only been seen in public a few times, for example, some weeks ago when she attended her mother’s funeral.

Earlier this week, as her husband, Donald Trump, stepped up the race for the 2024 presidency with some rather startling comments on several world issues, Melania was seen with her husband at the Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. Meanwhile, it appears that Melania will become more involved in Donald’s presidential campaign, even though rumors suggest that the two aren’t on the best grounds.

Melania joined Donald for a gala at Mar-a-Lago, and rumors about her involvement in her husband’s possible future presidential career have been out there. Now, Donald Trump has decided to speak out on his wife.

Donald Trump is in the middle of the race to become president again. He has won both the Iowa Caucuses and the New Hampshire Republican primary, and this seems to point toward him becoming the Republican candidate for the 2024 Presidential election.

Donald Trump says NATO allies won’t get help from possible Russia attack unless they pay

But while the former president has never left the spotlight, his outbursts against the “Fake News” media, President Joe Biden, and other political issues haven’t dominated the news in recent months – not as they once did. Though this changed just days ago when Donald Trump stated that he ‘would encourage’ Russia to attack NATO allies who do not pay their bills.

“NATO was busted until I came along,” Trump said at the rally held in Conway, South Carolina. “I said, ‘Everybody’s gonna pay.’ They said, ‘Well, if we don’t pay, are you still going to protect us?’ I said, ‘Absolutely not.’ They couldn’t believe the answer.”

Further, Trump claimed that “one of the presidents of a big country” had asked him if the US would defend the country if they were invaded by Russia, even though they “don’t pay.”

“No, I would not protect you,” Trump added. “In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You got to pay. You got to pay your bills.”

The White House called Donald Trump’s comments “appalling and unhinged,” and NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said that “Any suggestion allies will not defend each other undermines all of our security”, and that it puts soldiers from NATO countries at risk.

While Donald Trump now is back on his campaign trail, he has been doing it without his wife, Melania Trump.

Melania Trump – where is she?

In late 2023, Melania hadn’t been seen for quite a while, and when the early Christmas photo was taken of the Trumps at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, she wasn’t present.

Later, Donald revealed she was missing because her mother, Amalija, was “very ill.”

On January 9, it was announced that Amalija had passed away at the age of 78.

Melania Trump wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, “Amalija Knavs was a strong woman who always carried herself with grace, warmth, and dignity. She was entirely devoted to her husband, daughters, grandson, and son-in-law. We will miss her beyond measure and continue to honor and love her legacy.”

Amalija Knavs’ funeral was held at the Church of Bethesda by the Sea in Palm Beach, Florida, on January 18. The funeral was private, and many of Trump’s family members attended.

During the private funeral, Melania Trump delivered an emotional eulogy, paying tribute to her mother’s “unparalleled affection”. She remembered her mother as “a ray of light in the darkest of days.”

“She embodied the best mother, wife, grandmother, mother-in-law – a true beacon of love and luxury in our lives,” Melania Trump said, adding that her mother’s “beauty and impeccable sense of style turned the heads of many.”

“She’s a true inspiration, a role model to me, and to so many,” the former FLOTUS said, concluding her seven-minute eulogy with, “Rest in peace, my beloved mummy.”

Outside the Church of Bethesda by the Sea in Palm Beach, Melania stood next to their son, Barron, and Donald,

Speaking to the Express, body language Judi James explained that she saw how Donald Trump acted very differently than usual for the funeral. According to her, it also showed that Barron is taking on more responsibility.

“It elicits an unusual response from their son Barron, too. Clearly tuned into his father’s mood, he extends a hand in what looks like a mimed or truncated embrace that could suggest a desire to show comfort and/or support,” Judi James explained.

“This is an unusual display of emotion from Trump, who appears to be mourning Melania’s mother as a personal loss,” she added.

Moreover. Judi James discussed how Donald Trump “seems to have adopted a pose similar to his wife Melania” and “here “looking much more vulnerable than usual, with his arms falling to the front of his torso and a reflective-looking frown on his face.” ¨

The fact that Barron was standing between his parents when outside of the church wasn’t a coincidence, Judi James told the Mirror in another interview.

“Donald and Melania have positioned their son between them rather than standing together here, and Trump himself is standing rigidly to attention with his chin raised as though wanting to perform a mark of formal respect for his mother-in-law.

The body language expert concluded, “The lack of touch here could be deliberate. When someone has to mourn in public, it is common to worry that acts of comfort, support, and affection can make them lose their composure completely, and that might be Melania’s concern that she needs to stay in control of her emotions at this very public moment for the ex-FLOTUS.”

Melania Trump seen traveling in a separate car from her husband

At the same time as Melania Trump and her family said goodbye to her late mother, the talks have for a rather long time been about her relationship with her husband. Melania and Donald have been pictured not even traveling in the same car, and she was said to not have wanted to be supporting him in person through his many legal battles in the last year.

Just months ago, Donald and Melania attended the funeral of the former president. sister. Body language expert Judi James stated at that time that Donald Trump, through his actions, revealed how his relationship with his wife is.

“There is one moment on the steps outside the church when Trump appears to attempt to adopt a strong presidential pose, standing upright with his jaw squared and his head lifted, but otherwise, he looks like a man stricken by grief,” James said.

Judi added that the fact that Donald held his wife Melania’s hand was telling.

She said: “His tight clasp on Melania’s hand looks as though it is for practical as well as emotional support. Walking down the steps he seems to lean heavily on his wife for support so that her shoulders tilt towards him in a hint that he is placing some weight on that clasp.”

At one point, it appeared that Melania would never support her husband to become president again, at least not with her by his side.

In 2021, according to CNN sources, the former first lady told several friends that she didn’t intend to become first lady again as she was done with living in the White House and wanted a more private life.

“Being first lady again is not what she wants,” one person close to the Trump family told CNN. “For her, it was a chapter — and it’s over, and that’s that.”

Melania Trump says she wants to restore “hope for the future”

Furthermore, Melania at the time didn’t believe that political work for the Republican Party was her job, but rather her husband’s.

“You’re not going to see her at rallies or campaign events, even if he ‘officially’ says he’s running again,” another person said.

Previously, Melania reportedly stated she never wanted to return to the White House as she thought it was her least favorite place on earth. But things have changed.

Shortly after the Trump 2024 re-election campaign announcement in November, his daughter, Ivanka Trump, revealed she would not be on the campaign trail again with her father. Around that time, it was also reported that Melania had no interest in campaigning again.

Some months ago, in an interview with Fox News, Melania said she looked forward to working alongside her husband again to restore “hope for the future” and “leading America with love and strength” for a second presidential term.

Meanwhile, now, Melania Trump has pretty much not been seen in public for months except for a few times. She has been said to have stayed at Mar-a-Lago, supporting and shielding her son, Barron, as he is in the middle of finishing up high school.

Melania Trump has been absent from Donald’s campaign rallies and court appearances. But now she is back at her husband’s side, at least for Saturday night at Mar-a-Lago, attending the Trumpettes gala.

Donald Trump calls Melania ‘great first lady’ at gala dinner

As reported by the Palm Beach Post, Melania Trump walked into the ballroom ahead of her husband. She smiled and waved at the gala’s attendees, and before Donald went onto the stage, he embraced her.

Speaking to the 1,000 people in the crowd, Trump began by praising his wife.

“First of all, our great first lady,” Donald Trump said, with the crowd cheering.

Just weeks ago, Donald Trump also confirmed that Melania will be an important part of his presidential campaign, saying that she “wants to make America great again, too.”

“She’s gonna play, and she always did play a big role,” Trump told Fox News. “She was somebody that you could rely on.

The former president added, She’s very smart, a very compassionate person. And I would rely on her for advice. I think she’s going to be very active in the sense of being active, at the same time, I don’t want my family to be too active because they did such a great job last time.”
