Jamie Lee Curtis seemed to have spent her Memorial Day weekend doing something incredibly heartwarming. The actress celebrated the beautiful occasion of her daughter Ruby Guest’s wedding to her longtime partner Kynthia.

Apart from being the mother of the bride, Jamie also officiated the ceremony. The couple exchanged vows in the backyard of the actress’ family home. Jamie Lee Curtis’ older daughter Annie Guest, had her wedding ceremony in the same backyard just three years ago.

Ruby came out as transgender to her parents in 2020 and then came out publicly in 2021. She gave an interview with her mother, Jamie Lee Curtis, in which she talked about her partner, Kynthia, and how she had been with her throughout her journey.

Jamie wore a costume from the World of Warcraft to officiate the ceremony. It was a cosplay wedding with everyone, including the brides wearing costumes. She talked about the idea in March 2022 when she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

“Everybody at the wedding is going to be in costume, and I will be in a costume to officiate the wedding,” she said, talking about how she found her own costume on Etsy.

“Her name is Jaina Proudmoore. It’s from … it’s a game. She’s an admiral,” Jamie said. She was excited about the nuptials, mentioning how meaningful they were to her.

“We’re gonna have a beautiful picnic in the backyard. I’m really excited,” she said.

“Both my children will have been married in my backyard, which brings me to tears,” she said.

She grew emotional at the thought, saying, “It’s so much more meaningful.”

“Just forgetting all of show-off business — being a parent, having both of your children married in your backyard,” the actress said.

Jamie posted pictures from the occasion. It seemed like everyone had a wonderful time as both brides beamed, dressed in costumes from the World of Warcraft. Guests were encouraged to join in and follow the theme as well.

Ruby has said in interviews that she knew she was different since she was 16 years old. However, it took her some time to come to terms with it and be open up about it, mostly because of a bad experience in therapy which set her bad.

“Then, seven years later, still being Tom at the time, I told the person who is now my fiancé that I am probably trans,” Ruby said in an interview with People.

“And they said, ‘I love you for who you are.'”

She shared how both her parents were supportive and did their best to accept her and learn more about what she was going through.

“It was intimidating — but I wasn’t worried. They had been so accepting of me my entire life,” she said.

“It’s speaking a new language. It’s learning new terminology and words. I am new at it. I am not someone who is pretending to know much about it,” Jamie Lee Curtis shared of her experience.

“And I’m going to blow it, I’m going to make mistakes. I would like to try to avoid making big mistakes,” the actress added.

“You slow your speech down a little. You become a little more mindful about what you’re saying. How you’re saying it. You still mess up, I’ve messed up today twice. We’re human,” she further said.

Jamie Lee admitted that what she and her husband Christopher Guest most struggled with was letting go of Ruby’s birth name. “Just the regularity of the word. The name that you’d given a child. That you’ve been saying their whole life,” she said about it.

“And so, of course, at first that was the challenge. Then the pronoun. My husband and I still slip occasionally,” the actress admitted.

Jamie shared how she wanted to share Ruby’s story to help other families out there that might be going through something similar.

“I’m not proselytizing, and I’m not trying to force-feed something to people. I’m simply saying, ‘This is our family’s experience,'” she warned.

“I am here to support Ruby. That is my job. Just as it is to care and love and support her older sister Annie in her journeys. I’m a grateful student. I’m learning so much from Ruby. The conversation is ongoing. But I want to know: How can I do this better?” the actress said candidly.
