Man gets horrific injury after 6ft kangaroo attacks him

Australia is home to some of the world’s most unique flora and fauna. The continent has some of the most interesting creatures known to man and one of them is the kangaroo.

The animal is heavily featured in children’s cartoons and portrayed as a friendly creature but sometimes in real life, the creature is not just unfriendly but straight out aggressive.

A cattle farmer from Australia has shared his intense injuries after a kangaroo attacked him. The incident happened in 2018 according to 60-year-old Adrian Stock. A kangaroo was provoked by three dogs; a Tenterfield Terrier, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, and a Bull Arab.

He shared his story, saying, “I had lived on the farm for 35 years and I had three dogs at the time. All of a sudden they took off up the paddock chasing this large rogue kangaroo.”

“I ran after them as kangaroos can easily gut a dog but I also don’t love my animals attacking wildlife,” he said.

When he finally caught up to his dogs who had cornered the animal in shallow water, he began to wave his arms in the air to distract the kangaroo.

However, the kangaroo misinterpreted it as him being his biggest threat.

“It turned on me and grabbed me by the head with its front claws and then kicked me in the belly with its back leg, and knocked me to the ground in the water,” he recalled.

“The kangaroo was under a lot of stress and I wanted to get the dogs off him. At the moment, a man drove past and I borrowed his walking stick and flailed it at the dogs to get them off because they were in a frenzy,” he remembered the painful incident.

“Kangaroos are very tough animals and it took about five minutes to finally get the dogs off it and send them home,” he said.

He shared how him and the kangaroo by this time were exhausted.

He suffered quite a few injuries due to the altercation. He had several cuts across his head and scalp, as well as a long claw cut on his stomach.

“I’ve been left scarred for life from this,” he shared. “The cuts on my head were a couple of inches per claw and they were mainly scratches but their claws are really sharp. The scratch on my stomach was about 12 inches long.”

He got a tetanus shot and some stitches. He shared details about his assailant, “The kangaroo was taller than me and 6ft tall. He was quite muscular and jacked.”

“In the heat of the moment I felt adrenaline first, so I didn’t feel any pain and didn’t notice the blood coming down the side of my head,” Stock shared.

“I could feel my stomach but I couldn’t see it. When I became aware of it [my injuries], it was stinging and painful,” he recalled.

Since the incident, he has been understandably wary of kangaroos.
