OnlyFans star, 18, calls 9-to-5 women over 25 “failures”

An 18-year-old OnlyFans star has ignited outrage after declaring that women over 25 who work traditional 9-to-5 jobs – including professionals shaping the world – are nothing more than “failures.”

As a 9-year-old, Lil Tay, born Claire Tian, became an internet sensation for her bold, over-the-top videos. By 2018, she had shifted her focus to music, collaborating with artists like Diplo and Jake Paul.

Bizarre death hoax

Then, in August 2023, her name exploded across headlines for a far darker reason.

A statement suddenly appeared on her official Instagram account claiming that both Lil Tay and her older half-brother, Jason Tian, had died. The message, according to People, read, “It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire’s sudden and tragic passing…This outcome was entirely unexpected and has left us all in shock.”

The announcement quickly went viral, sparking confusion, grief, and intense speculation across social media platforms. However, the Los Angeles Police Department and the L.A. County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office confirmed they had no record of her death, adding to the mystery.

Within just 24 hours, the Instagram post was deleted – and in September 2023, just one month after her “death” was announced, the internet star broke her silence by releasing a new music video for a song titled “Sucker 4 Green.” Her caption was bold and defiant: “B****es THOUGHT THE SHOW WAS OVER.”

Career move

On August 3, celebrating her 18th birthday, the controversial influencer returned to the spotlight with a career move that sent shockwaves across the internet.

Lil Tay shared what appeared to be a screenshot of her OnlyFans earnings, claiming she made over $1 million in just three hours through subscriptions, tips, and messages.

“$1M in 3 hours. We broke the f*** out of that OnlyFans record,” she captioned the Instagram post.

While the subscription-based platform has not verified the numbers, the post quickly caught attention. According to Billboard, if her claims are accurate, Lil Tay would have matched or even broken the record previously set by Danielle Bregoli, known as Bhad Bhabie, who earned $1 million in six hours after joining OnlyFans in 2021.

‘Failures’

In the days following her earnings post, Lil Tay doubled down with a video that stirred even more backlash. In a clip posted to Instagram on August 16, she urged other women to abandon traditional jobs and join her in creating content on adult platforms.

“If you’re over the age of 25 and you’re still working a 9-to-5, you are a failure” Lil Tay said in an Instagram video shared August 16. “Like, by then you should’ve already made your bag. And ladies, every single one of you should drop the link, like me. Literally just make your bag. Who gives a f*** what anybody thinks?”

‘Being a nurse means I’m a failure?’

The statement sparked outrage, particularly from women who work in traditional careers or pursue higher education. Many of her followers responded in disbelief, with some defending the value of education and hard work. Comments poured in, with one user writing, “Sorry girl but I’m going to college,” while another asked “So being a doctor means I’ll be a failure?”

“Being a nurse means I’m a failure? I work 8-5 in outpatient oncology which is treating cancer patients. I like to think that I’m not a failure and I don’t think my patients think so either,” writes a third, whose comment was praised hundreds of times by cancer survivors.

“So, selling your body online is not a failure? Yeah ok…” offered another netizen.

Disowned by family

Adding to the drama, Lil Tay revealed in the same video that she had been disowned by her family. “They don’t talk to me anymore. They don’t f*** with me,” she said. “But who gives a s***. I can literally buy their whole life if I wanted to.”

She also dismissed the value of education entirely, claiming she dropped out and chose OnlyFans instead. “F*** education,” she said. “Harvard was never gonna help me make eight figures. That’s why I dropped out of it and I dropped the link instead.”

‘They’re still working 9-to-5’

On August 19, Lil Tay shared a TikTok clip, where she’s seen flashing a wad of $100 bills in the camera lens.

She captioned the post: “Now I’m up 12 M’s, and they’re still working a 9-to-5.”

As the debate rages over whether her success is empowering or harmful, one thing is clear: she’s no longer just a viral kid – she’s now one of the most controversial figures on the internet.
