Life has a lot of ups and downs that you would never expect. No moment is guaranteed and sometimes the most random things can happen and pull the rug out from under us.
As this family was fast asleep, they had no idea a random moment would turn their life upside down within seconds…
Mack Ellison who is a Pastor at Temple of Faith Ministries was sleeping in bed with his wife Lashuna. It was around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday night when the Pastor suddenly woke up to hear his wife breathing heavily. “I just woke up to very heavy breathing,” he recalled.
Ellison then shook his wife to get a response from her and find out what was wrong but she did not say anything. At this point, he called in his children to help turn her over in bed as she seemed non-responsive.
That’s when they realized something was seriously wrong. Ellison recalls, “And we saw blood everywhere.”
The family rushed Lashuna to Grady Memorial Hospital. Doctors found a bullet in her head and identified it as the cause for her bleeding.
The family was shocked and confused. They went home to see whether there were any bulletholes in their wall. Ellison remembers it clearly, “We go back in the house and we see where it went through the wall, and right where she was laying,” Ellison adds, “It went through the headboard and right into the top of my wife’s head and stopped here in her sinus.”

An investigation is currently underway to find out where the bullet came from but right now authorities do not have a clue.
“It hit my wife, and now my wife is fighting for her life,” Ellison said. “Critical condition. And yet, we’re praying, and we’re asking for all the prayers of petitioners, family and friends.”
Being a Pastor, Ellison is doing his best to keep himself composed and pray. But as a person, he is incredibly upset that such a senseless act of violence could happen as the couple slept soundly in their own bed!
“You can’t just take a gun and shoot it in the air and not realize what’s on the other side,” Ellison said. “Because what’s on the other side is not just a tree, but it’s somebody’s wife, somebody’s daughter, somebody’s relative.”
The Pastor is distraught knowing this is such a random incident and that he could not do anything to prevent it. He says, “My job is to protect my wife, and I couldn’t protect her.”
This is such a heartbreaking incident and reminds you how precious life really is. We are sending prayers to Pastor Ellison’s wife and family in this difficult time.
