The Fast & Furious Paul Walker passed away on November 30 in 2013 in a single-vehicle accident. His death was mourned by thousands of people around the world but most specifically it was mourned by his family.
Now a fifth generation will carry the Paul Walker name as the late star’s brother Cody Walker named him new-born son after the actor.
Cody welcomed his third child with his wife Felicia on April 30 in Arizona. According to reports, the couple confirmed that the baby boy’s name is in homage to the late Paul Walker. The baby who weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces was named Paul Barrett “Bear” Walker.
The couple apparently decided on the name 24 hours after Felicia gave birth to their son.
“This November will mark 10 years since we lost my brother, Paul, and I just felt now was the appropriate time,” Cody said to the media.
The couple already share a 5-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son. The name Paul Walker has a rich history within the family with Cody narrating that the name “goes back “goes back four generations.”
“My brother, Caleb, and I are both done having children. My brother, Paul, was Paul William Walker IV and that name goes back four generations,” he said. “Within the family, he went by ‘little Paul’ or ‘Paul 4,’ even though he quickly outgrew our father in height. It was important to me to have that name carry on,” Cody Walker shared of the name.
Walker died in a single vehicle car crash. The car was being driven by professional driver and Walker’s friend Roger Rodas in Valencia, California. At the time of his death Walker was 40. Walker’s only child, Meadow Walker was 15 years old at the time of her father’s tragic death.
She recently appeared in the Fast series latest installment. She credited her cameo as a way to honor her late father.
“I’ve always thought about honoring my dad [in a Fast film] just because it’s such a big part of his life and my life,” Meadow said in an interview. “But I was waiting for the right moment. I wanted it to be something super small and simple that was almost like an Easter egg. Like, if you didn’t know who I was, you wouldn’t even notice it. I know that’s what my dad would want. My dad was always humble, very simple. I left my little mark and I can always share that with him.”
