Drena De Niro’s son Leandro De Niro Rodriguez has passed away. The actress shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram on Sunday night.
The 51-year-old wrote in the post announcing her son’s death to the world, “My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly.”
She went on, “You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life. I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you. I don’t know how to live without you but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama. You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you.
She further wrote, “I’m so sorry my baby.” She ended her post by writing, “Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy.”

Drena did not share further details about Leandro’s sudden passing. In the post, she also tagged the teenage boy’s father artist father, artist Carlos Mare.
Drena De Niro is actress Diahnne Abbott’s daughter and actor Robert De Niro’s adopted daughter. She took De Niro’s last name upon his marriage to her mother in 1976. She is the oldest of De Niro’s seven children.
In May, the actor confirmed the birth of his seventh child, a daughter with his girlfriend, Tiffany Chen. Robert De Niro has not yet commented on the news of his grandson’s passing.
