Smith was born Ann Krohn. She attended high school in Petaluma, California. The former dental hygienist had worked mostly in the Bay Area. This is where she met her first husband John B. Huntington, a California railroad heir. Huntington was 20 years older than her and their marriage lasted four years; from 1985 to 1989. During her marriage, she spent large amounts on clothes, horses, and charities. In a 2013 interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, she said, “Money was no object. I had everything in the world.”

After her marriage to Huntington ended she had no place to live because of an iron-clad prenuptial agreement. She said in the same 2013 interview that her lack of funds post-divorce left her feeling suicidal as a result. She went to court alleging her ex-husband had been abusive and demanded financial compensation but ultimately her quest to do so failed.

Her life changed when she became a Christian and started volunteering as a chaplain for police departments in Marin County. During this time in 1999, she met and married Michael Carabello, a former percussionist in the band Santana. The marriage only lasted one year and nothing of note happened during or after it.

Her third husband was Chester Smith, a radio and television entrepreneur in Modesto, California. Smith had started out as a disc jockey and country singer. In 2005, Smith was pictured next to him on the cover of his album “Captured by Love.” The album had been credited to “Chester Smith with Ann Lesley Smith.”

Chester Smith died in 2008 at the age of 78 years old. His daughter from a previous marriage Roxanne Storey sued Ann Lesley Smith in San Joaquin County Superior Court. She alleged that as the trustee of his estate, Smith had not given the fair share of her late husband’s estate to his children.

The court ruled in favor of Chester Smith’s children, with the judge saying, “the court has lost all confidence in her ability to administer the trust other than for her own benefit, in conflict with her fiduciary duty to Chester Smith’s three daughters.”

Murdoch is currently embroiled in a legal case that could end up costing him billions of dollars. His last marriage to actress and model Jerry Hall ended last summers after six years of being together.

The engagement ending is surprising to a lot of people. What do you think of this story? Let us know in the comments. Share this piece with others so they can know more about Rupert Murdoch’s former fiancé.
