Becoming a parent is a dream for many. Once they have children, many parents have testified that leaving them even for a day can be hard, but you’ll always be there, even though it can be tough. However, not everyone thinks like that. One mother, Lucy Alexandra, a content creator, stressed the importance of letting a child “be free” from their parents – and why she therefore leaves her son to go to a nightclub.
Single-mother Lucy Alexandra from England has left social media users hugely divided. On social media, she has shared a clip on TikTok that has received many reactions because it involves her child.
In the clip, as reported by The Sun, Lucy explained that she “idolizes” her son, whose age is not disclosed, but that sometimes, she “needs a break” from him.
Sitting in her car, Lucy has hit back at mothers who claim to be struggling to be away from their child for just one single night.
“This is what’s wrong with a lot of s**t in this day and age – people are obsessed with their children, fully f*****g obsessed and it’s too much,” the single mother said.
She said that it’s important to let a child “be free” from their parents for a night, as she said it will do them “the world of good.” Still, she admits that everyone has different opinions about it.
Lucy claimed she is “blessed” and “can’t wait” to spend time on her own, preferably at a nightclub drinking, she says. At the time of posting the clip on TikTok, she said she was so “excited” for a Saturday out with friends.

“I can’t wait to not have to do bedtime, I can’t wait to get up whenever the f**k I want, I can’t wait to watch my own s**t on TV, what I want to watch for a change,” the content creator shared, adding that she “won’t” be considering a specific time to get back home to her son when at the club.
Moreover, Lucy added,, “Whoever’s having him can have him for the day after as well, so I can do whatever the f**k I want on the Sunday too.”
The content creator and single mother from West Yorkshire, UK, admitted that people have called her a “sh*t mum.”
Call me what you want – my kid, I idolise him, he’s my absolute world. Di I need a break sometimes? Absolutely, I do,” she continued, claiming that it’s “not healthy” to “obsess over children.”
Lucy Alexandra acknowledged that she would “get sh*t” in comments from “all you TikTok mums that can’t bear to be away” from their kids.
“I’m a single mum, so do I wanna go out on a weekend and have a bit of fun? Yeah, by that I mean let my hair down and have a few drinks.”
So what do mums in the comments think? It’s divided, and Lucy’s clip gained more than 36.000 views in two days. While many agreed with her, others didn’t.
People are divided
Per The Sun, one mum wrote: “I look forward to a night to myself and getting a lie in,” while another added, “having a break is well and truly needed.”
A person not agreeing with Lucy wrote, “Imagine waiting years to conceive and then you finally get a miracle baby and you’re not allowed to be obsessed with them… I respect your views and decisions and you should respect ours.”
Another added: “What’s wrong with loving your child and wanting to be with them and not missing a thing?”
