Taylor Swift has spent nearly two decades building one of the most recognizable names in the world, but after marrying Travis Kelce, the superstar appears ready to make a deeply personal change few fans expected.
According to People, Taylor Swift, 36, and Travis Kelce’s wedding celebrations are expected to unfold over several days at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, with a rehearsal dinner kicking things off before a larger celebration for family and friends.
Ahead of the ceremony, a source familiar with the preparations offered a glimpse of what guests can expect inside the venue.
“[There’s] not a castle, but it looks very special. They have grass, carpets, canopies and it looks like a place where you’d get married. There’s a stage set up but it’s special,” the insider told People.
Mamdani’s advice to New Yorkers
The festivities – expected to attract thousands of Swifties to the streets – will also coincide with one of New York City’s hottest weekends in years, making the venue a topic of discussion during Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s June 30 press conference.
Asked about the wedding and whether it could affect traffic or lead to street closures, the mayor instead encouraged New Yorkers to stay out of the heat.
“My recommendation to all New Yorkers is to stay inside and stay cool,” Mamdani said. “And if you happen to be getting married at Madison Square Garden, you will be staying inside and you will be staying cool. And I think it’s a good example to set for the city at large.”
What’s on the menu?
As anticipation builds ahead of the ceremony, fans are also getting an early glimpse of what could be served at the celebration.
According to Page Six, trucks were seen delivering food and supplies to MSG in the days leading up to the wedding, offering clues about the menu awaiting guests.
Among the items unloaded were boxes labeled as lobster meat, along with several varieties of chicken, including breasts, legs, boneless cuts and blackened chicken.
The deliveries also included French fries, thick-cut onion rings and fresh ingredients such as romaine lettuce, red and orange peppers, eggs, whole milk and heavy whipping cream.
One delivery attracted even more attention when a Krispy Kreme van reportedly arrived outside the venue. While it’s unclear whether the doughnuts are destined for the wedding itself or the nearby Krispy Kreme store, the sight quickly fueled speculation online.
Taylor Kelce?
While the wedding itself has captured plenty of attention, another reported detail has fans talking just as much. According to the Daily Mail, citing sources close to the couple, the pop queen plans to take Kelce’s last name after the ceremony while continuing to use Taylor Swift professionally.
“Professionally, she’ll always be Taylor Swift. The name has become one of the biggest brands in entertainment, and there’s really no reason to change that,” an insider told the outlet.
The source said the decision reflects how the “Love Story” singer separates her public career from her private life: “Personally, it’s a different story,” the insider said. “Taylor is very traditional, and when it comes to marriage, she’d love to take Travis’ last name.”
“In her personal life, the idea of being Taylor Kelce is something she genuinely looks forward to. She sees it as a meaningful step, especially knowing it would also be the family name their future children would share.”
“Both she and Travis think there’s something incredibly special and beautiful about sharing the same last name, even if the world will always know her professionally as Taylor Swift,” the tipster said.
A second source echoed that claim while pointing to another celebrity couple as an example.
“She will take his last name when they wed, but for work she will still go by Taylor Swift. Jennifer Aniston did this when she married Brad Pitt.”
