Woman gets hilarious revenge on people who keep stealing from her mom’s garden

Having hobbies often involves investing time and effort to create something meaningful.

Whether it’s knitting, car repair, or gardening, the satisfaction lies in witnessing the finished product crafted with your own hands. However, the frustration can be immense when others disrespect these efforts by vandalizing or stealing the results.

In one Reddit post, a woman shared her approach to dealing with this situation, which had some pretty hilarious results… Keep reading to find out what happened!

Taking to Reddit, this woman shared how she dealt with people who kept stealing from her mother’s garden, and she did it in the absolute best way!

In her Reddit post, which was shared on the internet platform’s ‘Am I The A*****e‘ thread, the woman explains: “My mom is really into gardening and sometimes people have come by and stole potted plants, yard statuettes, and even dug whole plant bulbs with plants out of the ground. Or cut all the roses off her bushes because they were too cheap to buy from the florist I guess.”

She continues by writing that her car, which is parked in the driveway of her mom’s house near the garden bed, has managed to capture all of the sneaky thieves up close. So, as a way to prevent anything else from being stolen, the woman printed all the pictures of the perpetrators out.

The woman then added them to a poster that said: “Oh Hay there! Don’t be a Daffy-dil and steal, or else you might end up doing hard Thyme! We hope Thistle be a lesson to Yew!”

Along the border of the poster were the photos of people who had stolen from the garden, with each person getting a funny nickname like: “Mr. Potato Head,” “dill-a-tante,” “pothead,” “prick,” “Succ-er,” ” I peony in my pants,” “frond-less,” “dirt-bag,” “in-fertile,” and “root boy.”

“I thought it was funny and cutesy, like how can you be offended with dumb plant puns… My mom thought it was hilarious and wanted me to hang it up because she was sick of seeing stuff stolen,” the woman continues in her post.

“But I got a couple complains, one neighbor said I needed to take it down because I had a picture of his son, a minor who did something dumb yes but was just trying to bring his sick girlfriend flowers. And that it was disproportionate and rude to publicly shame him,” she adds.

The woman then advised the neighbor that she felt the poster wasn’t such a big deal, but the neighbor responded by calling her petty. “I called his kid a little Birch which pissed him off and honestly might have been petty,” the woman hilariously writes.

“Another guy came to the house and returned a cutting his wife apparently took to propagate, thinking it would be no big deal… But yeah, it damaged the plant because she cut like a quarter off. And he asked if we’d take down the sign because she was on the board of directors or something from the town and whatever. My mom had answered the door and told him to make like a bee and buzz off,” the Reddit post reads.

The woman concludes her post by writing that the families are now “annoyed” because the woman is refusing to take the poster down, and asks fellow Redditors if they feel she is being an a*****e for keeping the sign up.

As you can imagine, the internet community have overwhelmingly deemed the woman to be “not an a*****e”. With many people taking the time to comment their opinions on the matter.

“These people STOLE. That’s a CRIME. And instead of pressing charges or whatever you have created something TRULY DELIGHTFUL. (I wish I were half as clever as you because I’d come up with a pun of my own.) Not only are you not an a*****e, you’re also my hero,” one person writes.

Another person agreed, adding that the woman could simply respond to the complaints with: “If you don’t want your photo displayed, refrain from stealing the plants. If don’t want your photos displayed but you would like to continue stealing the plants, we can press charges in place of displaying your photo. The choice is yours.”

I absolutely loved this story! Some may call it petty, but I think this poster was a more than appropriate way to deal with theft.
