Beer reduces the risk of heart disease

The same researchers found that people who never drink beer are 56 percent more likely to die from heart disease than regular drinkers.

Beer is slimming

Like beer with high alcohol content? It can actually make you slimmer, according to professor Tim Spector at King’s College London. He claims that Belgian beer helps boost gut bacteria that keeps you slim.

Additionally, a natural flavonoid found in hops called xanthohumol is believed to counteract obesity, according to researchers at Oregon State University.

Beer is good for your bones

A little beer is also good for your bones. Dark beer is rich in dietary silicon, a substance that’s important for the structure of our bones, according to a study in the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture.

Beer reduces the likelihood of kidney stones

According to the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, people who drink a bottle of beer a day have a 41 percent lower risk of kidney stones.

Soda? It increases the risks.

Beer helps protect the brain from Alzheimer’s

Xanthohumol, mentioned above for its benefits in fighting obesity, can also protect against the brain diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

According to researchers, beer can even make you smarter. The only problem? You need to drink around 3,500 pints a day!

Beer is a good source of vitamins

“If you analyzed beer, you would be amazed at how many super-nutrients there are in it. Beer contains all of the essential—and many of the non-essential—amino acids,” Dr. Stephan Domenig told the Huffington Post.

Beer also contains phosphorus, iodine, magnesium, potassium, and a lot of calcium.

Beer acts as a kind of sunscreen

Beer made of barley contains ferulic acid, a strong antioxidant that can protect the skin against sun damage.

The antioxidant is also found in tomatoes and corn, but a study made in London in 2000 showed that people who drank beer but didn’t eat tomatoes or corn got four times more ferulic acid than those who ate tomatoes but didn’t drink beer or eat corn.
