Prince Louis

Prince Louis

Prince Louis, full name Louis Arthur Charles, is the youngest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton. He is fourth in line to the throne and has become one of the most popular Royal Family members because of his behavior when making public appearances.

Prince Louis – early life

Prince Louis was born on April 23, 2018 at St Mary's Hospital in London. Later the same day, he made his first public appearance when Prince William and Kate Middleton met the press outside of the hospital to announce his birth.

On 27th April, Prince William and Kate announced that he would be named Louis Arthur Charles. He was to be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.

Just as generations before him, Louis, as the youngest child, was baptized at the Chapel Royal at St James' Palace. He spent his early days living at Kensington Palace with his parents and older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. In 2022, the family relocated to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.

Prince Louis – family

Louis is the youngest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton. He is the grandson of King Charles and Kate Middleton's parents, Michael and Carole Middleton. His older brother is Prince George, and his older sister is Princess Charlotte.

Louis has one aunt, Kate's sister, Pippa Middleton. He also has two uncles, Kate's brother, James Middleton, and William's brother, Prince Harry.

Why did they name him Louis?

Prince Louis' three names are a nod to the Royal Family's history.  The Queen’s father reigned as King George VI, and Alexander is believed to be a tribute to the Queen (whose second name was Alexandra). Louis is one of Wlliam’s four names, and it's also seen as a tribute to Prince Philip’s uncle, Lord Louis Mountbatten.

Where is Prince Louis in the line of succession?

Louis is fourth in the Line of Succession behind her older brother, Prince George, older sister, Princess Charlotte, and her father, Prince William.

Can Prince Louis become King?

Yes, Louis can become king. If Prince George abdicated or passed away without having any heirs, and Charlotte either abdicated and passed away without any heirs, Louis would be next in the line of succession to the throne. Although the chances of him becoming king are very slim, it is possible.

Prince Louis' Net Worth

As Louis is still a child, he does not have a personal net worth. His wealth is tied to the assets of the Royal Family, and in the future, he will be handed his own money as well as inherit both things and estates.

It's tricky to put an actual number on their exact net worth, but when these studies are made, it's usually calculated based on the royal children's estimated future inheritance plus their individual impacts on the UK economy. However, according to data from Reader's Digest, Louis is worth around $70 million.

How old is Louis?

Louis is five years old and turns six on April 23.

What do George and Charlotte call Louis?

The Royal Family members use many nicknames for each other. Louis' siblings, George and Charlotte, began calling their youngest brother "Lou Lou" when he was very young. However, it's not only George and Charlotte who have a nickname for him. Kate Middleton was once overheard calling him “Lou-bugs."

Does Louis have a nanny?

Yes, Prince Louis and his siblings have had a nanny for a very long time. Her name is Maria Borrallo, and she has been with William and Kate since 2014. She began caring for George when he was only eight months old and was trained at the prestigious Norland College in Bath. It's been reported that Maria makes all the decisions at home regarding the children, keeping with William and Kate’s wishes.

When the family moved to Adelaide Cottage from Kensington Palace, the nanny stopped living in the same house. However, she lives at another property just around the corner.
